Turn a lead form into an opt-in page that offers a free guide or meditation, delivers it the moment someone signs up, and adds them to your leads.

A simple funnel: someone lands on your page, enters their details, and gets your free download straight away, on screen and by email. They're saved as a lead you can follow up with.

When to use this

  • You want to grow your list with a free guide, meditation, workbook or mini-class.
  • You want one link to share in your Instagram bio, a story or a podcast.
  • You want to follow up with an announcement later.

If you'd rather the freebie unlocks on its own page in your Content Library, with no form, see Give away a free meditation to grow your list.

Before you start

Have the freebie ready as a file: an audio or video practice, a PDF, a workbook. Articles can't be used as a free download.

To pick something you've already uploaded, it needs to be in your archived content: "This list only shows archived (unused) items. To make something available here, archive it in your Content Library first." See Archive and clean up your library. Or upload it fresh while you set up the page.

Create a lead form

Go to Audience → Forms & Funnels and click Add Form. Enter a Form Title (for example "Free morning meditation"), choose Lead Form, and click Create Form. Lead forms always ask for first name, last name, email and phone number.

Open the Landing Page tab

Open the form and click the Landing Page tab: "Create a custom landing page with downloadable incentives and personalized messaging for better conversion rates."

Write the page

Fill in Page Headline ("Get Your Free Guide"), Subheading and Page Description (what they'll get). All three are required. Set the Call-to-Action Button Text ("Download Now"). Add a Featured Image if you like; a 16:9 image works best.

Attach your freebie

Under Incentive Content, click Choose from Content Archive, pick an item in Choose Incentive Content and click Confirm Selection. Or click Upload New Content to add a new file. "Users will receive a download link after completing the form." Use Change or Remove to swap it later.

Save the page

Click Create Form Page. The tab now shows "Custom Landing Page Active." To make changes later, edit the fields and click Update Form Page.

Test it

Click Preview, fill in the form with your own email, and check that the download appears on screen and arrives by email. Make sure you appear on the Leads tab.

Share it

Click Share to copy the link. Put it in your bio, stories, emails or an announcement. You can also add it to your portal as a Get updates button, or embed the form in a landing page.

What people see

  1. Your Featured Image, your headline, "by [your portal name]," your subheading and description.
  2. The form: Email, First Name, Last Name and Phone Number, all required, with your button text.
  3. After they submit: "Thank you for submitting the form! Check your email for the download link." and "Your response has been recorded.", then "Here's something for you" with the freebie's title and description and an Access Your Content button.
  4. An email titled "Your Promised Content is Here!" with the freebie.

Follow up

  • Announce to these leads later. When you send an announcement, choose "Leads from [your form] form" to reach exactly the people who signed up. See Send an announcement to a segment.
  • Invite them to the next step: a discovery call, your membership or your community. See Plan a funnel.
  • See who claimed the freebie. In Audience → People, filter Activity by Incentive claim, or Source by Form.

Turn the page off

On the Landing Page tab, click Disable Page and confirm Disable Page. "Disabling it will remove the page and users will see the default form instead." Visitors then see the plain form with your form title and description, and no freebie is sent. To bring the page back you'll need to fill it in again.

Tips

  • Name the outcome, not the file. "A 10-minute practice for anxious mornings" converts better than "Meditation MP3."
  • Keep the page short. One promise, one button.
  • The free download belongs to the form, so it's delivered wherever the form is submitted, including inside a landing page.
  • Want a fuller sales page around the form? Build a landing page and embed this form in it.

Test with an address you can check, and make sure your freebie is the right file before you share the link. Everyone who signs up gets whatever is attached at that moment.
