Introduce members to each other
Use Connections to send quiet, considered introductions between members who might be glad to meet.
Connections are "Quiet, considered introductions. We surface members who might be glad to meet, and you decide how they're introduced." Members can't message each other directly in Soul, so an introduction from you is how two of them start talking.
When to use this
- You notice two members with something in common and want to connect them.
- Your community is growing and you'd like Soul to suggest pairs for you.
- You want introductions to go out on a regular rhythm without doing each one by hand.
How an introduction works
- A suggestion is a private pair only you can see.
- An Introduction is a message from you that both members receive, in their inbox and in-app.
- Each member accepts or declines on their own.
- When both accept, they're Connected and a direct conversation opens between them. If they don't respond in time (your Introduction expiry), it shows as Expired.
Introduce two members by hand
Start an introduction
Go to Community → Connections and click Create Introduction. You can also click Introduce on a member's page.
Pick two members
Write the note, or ask Soul
Write the introduction yourself, or tick Write the introduction for me: "Soul drafts a warm note grounded in both members' profiles for you to review."
Send or review
A note you write is sent to both members straight away. A note Soul drafts waits as a draft under Draft introductions for you to read, Edit Message, and Send Now.
Let Soul suggest pairs
Turn on AI connections
Go to Community → Settings → Connections and turn on AI connections: "Quietly suggest members who might resonate with each other."
Choose manual or automatic
Under How introductions happen, choose Manual ("Suggestions wait here until you introduce them") or Automatic (Soul schedules and sends introductions after a review window).
Set the rhythm
Choose a Suggestion cadence (Weekly or Monthly) and an Introduction expiry (24h, 36h, 48h or Custom). Click Save changes.
Review suggestions
Back on Connections, suggestions are marked Strong match or Worth a look. For each one you can Edit Message, Send Now, Pause, or Dismiss with an optional reason ("We won't suggest this pair again.").
In automatic mode, "Each round opens a ~7-day review window: pause, edit, send early, or dismiss before it goes out." Upcoming introductions wait under Upcoming introductions.
Track what happened
The lower part of Connections lists introductions by Upcoming, Recent and Past. Filter by status: Awaiting, Accepted, Expired or Dismissed, or search by member name.
Tips
- Matching needs a community of about 20 members. Before that, the page says "A little early for introductions… We'd rather wait than offer a weak match."
- Richer profiles, better matches. Good profile prompts give Soul more to go on.
- Keep the note about shared ground, not private details. Never mention anything from your private notes.
- Sent isn't connected. An introduction only becomes a connection when both people accept. A decline is a normal outcome.
- Mention introductions in your guidelines so members expect them.
What your members see
Both members get your introduction in their inbox and in-app, with your note. Each one accepts or declines. When both accept, a direct conversation opens between them in their Soul inbox.
