Serve your Soul portal on an address you own, like yourname.com, with automatic SSL.

Your portal can live at your own web address. Your free bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle> link keeps working the whole time, so nothing you've already shared breaks.

When to use this

  • You already have a website domain and want your portal there.
  • You want cleaner links to share, like yourname.com/sessions.
  • You want a landing page to be the first thing people see at your domain.

Before you start

  • A domain you own, from any registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare and so on), and access to its DNS settings.
  • A card on file. A custom domain is a $12/month add-on, charged to your card on file. You can remove it any time.
  • You must be the portal Owner. Collaborators see "The portal owner manages this domain".

Add your domain

Open Settings → Custom Domain. Type your domain under Domain, for example yourname.com or portal.yourname.com. Tick "I understand a custom domain costs $12/mo, charged to my card on file. I can remove it anytime." and click Add Domain.

If you see "Domain reserved — confirm the payment to start setup", finish the payment under Finish your billing setup and click Confirm payment. Setup continues once it clears.

Add the DNS records at your registrar

Soul shows Add these DNS records at your registrar, each with a HOSTNAME and VALUE and copy buttons. Add them exactly as listed.

The usual setup is a single CNAME record:

You enteredHost to useYour portal is served at
A root domain, e.g. yourname.comwwwwww.yourname.com
A subdomain, e.g. portal.yourname.comportalportal.yourname.com

If Soul shows two records, add both, so your domain works with and without www.

Click the ⓘ (How to add these DNS records) for where to find DNS settings at GoDaddy, Namecheap and Cloudflare. On Cloudflare, keep the record's proxy off (grey cloud).

Verify

Tick I've added these records at my registrar and click Verify. You'll see Verifying your domain, then DNS found — issuing your certificate, and finally Active: "Your portal is live on this domain with SSL."

You can leave the page while it verifies. Soul emails you when your domain is live.

Copy each value exactly, with no http:// and no path. Remove any existing A or CNAME record on the same name first. Never point your domain at the IP addresses our CNAME target resolves to: a domain pointed straight at those IPs can't be verified.

Optional: make the bare domain work too

If your portal is served at www.yourname.com, Soul may also show an A record on the host @ (some registrars want the host left blank). Add it and anyone who types yourname.com is sent to your portal, keeping the page they asked for. Use exactly the addresses Soul shows.

Optional: choose what your domain opens on

By default your domain opens on your portal home. To put a landing page at the front instead:

  1. Open Settings → Custom Domain (your domain must be Active).
  2. Under Domain home page, pick a published page and click Save Home Page.

Visitors then land on that page at yourname.com, and your portal home moves to yourname.com/portal. Every other portal page keeps its address. Changes can take up to 5 minutes to show. If you unpublish or delete the page, your domain goes back to opening on your portal home.

How long it takes

Usually a few minutes. DNS and SSL can take up to 24 hours. If your domain isn't live after an hour, Soul emails you to re-check your records, and the settings page shows the latest DNS check and what it found.

Once your domain is live, your portal is served at its root. The /portal/<your-handle> part drops away:

On bringsoul.lifeOn your domain
bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle>yourname.com
bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle>/sessionsyourname.com/sessions
bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle>/pricingyourname.com/pricing

Apple Pay, Google Pay and other one-tap payments

Nothing to set up. Once your domain is live, Soul registers it with our payment processor so Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, PayPal and Klarna appear at checkout on your own address. Allow up to an hour. Cards work straight away. If you've put your own proxy or hosting service in front of the domain, it can block this; point the domain at Soul directly.

If your domain stops working later

Soul keeps checking your records after the domain is live. If the record is changed or removed, you'll see "This domain is no longer connected" and get an email. Your bringsoul.life link carries visitors in the meantime, and nothing is lost. Soul waits a few minutes before acting, so an edit you're part-way through won't trip it. Put the records back and click Check Again.

Troubleshooting

"Waiting on your DNS records" or "We can't find your DNS records"

Your registrar hasn't published the records yet, or they were saved on the wrong host. Compare each HOSTNAME and VALUE with what's at your registrar. The Latest DNS check box shows exactly what Soul is seeing. Fix it and click Check Again.

"Taking longer than usual"

The usual cause is a record saved with the wrong value or on the wrong host. Compare yours against the records shown. Nothing is lost while you fix it.

"We couldn't verify this domain"

After 24 hours Soul stops checking. Fix the records and click Check Again to retry.

I added an A record with other IP addresses

Your portal address needs the CNAME. The only A record Soul asks for is the one it shows, with its exact addresses. Delete any other IPs.

My registrar can't add a record at the root

Use a subdomain instead, such as portal.yourname.com.

"We couldn't set this domain up"

Something went wrong on Soul's side. Try again in a moment. If it keeps happening, email support@bringsoul.life.

Change or remove your domain

  • Switch domains: add the new one. Your current domain keeps serving until the replacement verifies. Click Cancel Replacement to keep the old one.
  • Remove it: click Remove Domain. This immediately stops serving your portal on that domain and stops the monthly charge. Your bringsoul.life link keeps working.

Billing

The custom domain is $12/month, billed monthly whatever plan you're on. On a monthly Soul plan it's on your regular invoice. On a yearly plan it's billed separately each month, so you never pay a year of it up front.

If a payment fails, you'll see Payment past due and your domain keeps working for 30 days while you update your card. After that it's suspended and your portal falls back to its bringsoul.life link. Nothing is lost, and you can re-enable it any time.
