Luminary FAQ
Quick answers to the questions Luminaries ask most.
Pricing and payments
Can I offer a pay-what-you-can or free membership?
Yes. In Business → Pricing, use a Pricing Range with a $0 minimum for pay-what-you-can. Set both minimum and maximum to $0 for a free membership. See Offer a free or pay-what-you-can membership.
Can I offer a free trial?
Yes. Create a promo code for My Portal with the Free trial benefit, for a number of days or until a set date. See Offer a free trial.
What happens to current members if I change my price?
Nothing. New prices apply to new subscribers only. Existing members keep the price they joined at. To change what they pay, ask them to re-subscribe, or give them a promo code.
How do I move my members over from another platform?
Send them subscriber invites from Business → Customers & Subscribers → Add/Invite. You can import a CSV, choose each person's price, attach a promo code, and set a Billing Starts date so nobody pays twice. See Migrate members from another platform.
Can I edit or delete a promo code?
No. Codes can't be changed once created. Turn the old one off from View details → Promotion Status and create a new one. See Launch a promo code.
How long until I get paid?
Stripe sends payouts on the schedule in your Stripe settings. Banks usually take 1–2 business days after that. See Set up payouts and get paid.
Does Soul take a cut of my sales?
You keep your earnings, minus card processing fees. You pay for Soul through your subscription.
Can I refund only part of a payment?
Yes. Lower the Refund amount (USD) when you refund. See Refund a member.
Can I sell physical products?
Not directly. A workaround: use a form to collect shipping addresses, attach it to a paid content item or event ticket, and fulfil it yourself.
Members and community
Why is my member count higher than my paying subscribers?
Your total count includes Leads: people who filled in a form, started a checkout or were imported. For paying subscribers only, choose Active subscribers in Customers & Subscribers. Your community member count is different again.
How do I see my portal the way a member does?
In My Portal → Design, switch to Preview and use Preview As (Visitor, Logged In, Subscriber). For the full experience, subscribe with a second email and a 100%-off promo code limited to one use.
Can I collect information when someone subscribes?
Yes. Add a pre-subscription form in Business → Onboarding → Forms. See Ask questions before someone subscribes.
Can I send a welcome email automatically?
Yes. Click Set Up Welcome Email on Business → Customers & Subscribers. See Send a welcome email to new subscribers.
Will I be told when someone cancels?
Not yet. Check Past subscribers in Customers & Subscribers, or the churn rate in Analytics.
Can my assistant have their own login?
Yes. Invite them from Settings → Collaborators. See Invite a collaborator or assistant.
Do I own my members' data?
Yes. You can import and export your list, and Soul never sells your or your members' data.
Your portal
Can I change my portal address?
Yes, but treat it as permanent once you've shared it: changing it breaks existing links. See Share your portal.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, for $12/month. See Use your own domain.
Can I remove "Powered by Soul"?
No. A small attribution appears at the bottom of every portal page.
How do I put my most important offering at the top?
Pin it as a highlight. See Feature and reorder your offerings.
Content and offerings
Can I stop people downloading my content?
It depends on the type. Audio, video and articles have no download button. Files and images can be downloaded. See Content Library.
Can I share something with just a few people?
Set it to Unlisted. It's hidden from your portal but opens for anyone with the link. This works for content items, sessions and events. Whole courses, and items inside a content collection, can't be unlisted yet.
Can I save a draft?
Yes, for events, content items, collections, Paths and landing pages. For anything else, set it to Unlisted while you work.
Can I add a discussion space to a course?
Not inside the course yet. Create a chat space and link to it from the course description.
Can I run a waitlist or delay billing until a program starts?
A waitlist isn't available yet. To delay billing until launch, use a free trial with a fixed Trial End Date, or subscriber invites with a Billing Starts date.
Can I collect reviews or testimonials?
Not built in yet. Collect them with a form (a rating plus free text) and feature the best ones in your portal copy, a landing page or an announcement.
