Read your analytics
What each number on your Analytics page means, which ones follow your date range, and what to do when they move.
Business → Analytics ("Revenue, membership, and conversion insights.") is the one screen that shows how your practice is doing: what you sold, what you kept, how big your membership is, who's leaving, and how many people move from interested to paying.
When to use this
- A monthly check-in on revenue and memberships.
- After a launch, to see what it brought in compared with the period before.
- When you sense members are leaving and want to know for sure.
- Before you set prices or plan a promotion, to see which offerings earn the most.
For individual payments, refunds and payout status, use Payouts & Transactions instead. Analytics is the summary; Transactions is the ledger.
Use the page
Choose a period
Open Business → Analytics. It starts on the last 30 days. Pick 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or Custom. For Custom, choose a start and end date in the calendar, then Apply.
Choose what to include (optional)
Use Filter by type to look at one kind of offering: Course, Session, Content, Collection, Subscription, Chat Space or Event. All offerings shows everything. The filter changes Total Revenue, Net Earnings and the revenue chart. See which numbers follow the filters.
Read the cards
Hover the info icon next to Total Revenue, Net Earnings, Active Subscribers, MRR or ARPU for a one-line explanation.
Dates follow your portal's timezone, so "today" on this page is today where your practice is.
What's on the page
Top cards
| Card | In short |
|---|---|
| Total Revenue | What customers paid in the period, less refunds, before Stripe fees. Compared with the period before. |
| Net Earnings | What you keep after Stripe processing fees and refunds: the money that flows to your payouts. Also compared. |
| Active Subscribers | People with an active membership right now |
| MRR | Monthly recurring revenue from your active memberships right now. Yearly plans count as one-twelfth a month. |
| ARPU | Average revenue per user: Total Revenue for the period divided by your active subscribers |
Under Total Revenue and Net Earnings you'll see, for example, "▲ 12% vs prior period" or "flat vs prior period". The prior period is the same length, ending where yours starts: the last 30 days are compared with the 30 days before them. If the prior period had nothing to compare with, there's no arrow.
Second row
| Card | Shows |
|---|---|
| Churn Rate | The share of your subscribers who left during the period, with how many, e.g. "4.2% (3 churned)" |
| Subscriber Tier Split | Active subscribers on Monthly and on Yearly plans, and your ARR (annual recurring revenue) |
| Refund & Success | Payments in the period that Succeeded, were Refunded or Failed, plus Total Refunded |
Charts
- Revenue & Earnings Over Time: revenue for each day (Daily) or month (Monthly). Turn on the Transactions line to see how many payments there were. On 7 days and 30 days, a badge next to the title compares the second half of the period with the first half.
- Revenue by Offering Type: how much came from Events, Sessions, Content, Collections, Membership, Chat Space and Courses in the period, largest first.
- Conversion Funnel: how many Leads, Customers and Subscribers you have, with your Lead → Customer conversion rate.
Cohort Retention and Payment Structure Breakdown are listed under More Insights Coming Soon.
Every number, with how it's worked out, is on Analytics metric definitions.
What to do when a number moves
| You see | Try |
|---|---|
| Churn going up | Check Past subscribers in Customers & Subscribers and reach out personally. Make sure new members get a welcome email that shows them where to start. |
| Lots of leads, few customers | Give leads a reason to buy: a launch code, a free trial, or an announcement to your leads. |
| Revenue mostly from one offering type | That's what people want most. Put that section first on your portal. |
| Many failed payments | Members' cards are being declined. A friendly note asking them to update their card often helps. |
| Big gap between revenue and net earnings | That's card processing fees. Open a few payments in Payouts & Transactions to see the fee on each. |
| MRR flat while revenue grows | Your growth is coming from one-off sales, not memberships. Consider a membership tier for your regulars. |
Good to know
- Revenue already has refunds taken out; Net Earnings also has Stripe fees taken out. Say which one you mean when you compare.
- Active Subscribers, MRR, Subscriber Tier Split and the Conversion Funnel describe today, whatever period you pick. The period changes revenue, earnings, churn, refunds and the charts.
- Analytics doesn't export. For a spreadsheet, use Export CSV on Payouts & Transactions or on Customers & Subscribers.
- Soul AI can read these numbers for you. Ask on Home: "How much did I make this month after fees?" or "How much has my weekly class made?"
