Membership
Offer a free trial of your membership
Let people try your membership for a set number of days, or until a set date, before their first payment.
A free trial is a promo code for your membership. Members enter it at checkout and aren't charged until the trial ends.
When to use this
- People hesitate to pay before they've seen inside.
- You're launching and want a "try it for two weeks" offer.
- You want everyone who joins before your launch date to start paying on that date.
Open Promotions
Go to Business → Pricing and open the Promotions tab. Click Create Promotion.
Name the code
Enter a Code, such as TRY14. Codes use uppercase letters, numbers and underscores only.
Apply it to your membership
Under Applicable Offerings, click Add Offering Type and choose My Portal. Free trials only work on your membership, so don't add other offering types.
Describe it
Add a Description, for example 14 days free for new members.
Choose Free trial
Under Benefit Type, choose Free trial. Then either:
- enter Trial Days (for example
14), or - click the calendar button to set a Trial End Date and time instead. Everyone's trial ends on that date. It must be at least three days away.
Add limits (optional)
Under Additional Rules, tick Expire after specific period to stop new sign-ups using the code after a date, Limit total uses, or Limit uses per user (usually 1).
Create it
Click Create Promotion. It appears in your list as, for example, "14 day trial", with status Active.
Tips
- Share the code with the link. Send people to
https://bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle>/pricingand tell them: "On the payment page, click Have a promo code? and enter TRY14." - Use a fixed end date for launches. Everyone who joins early starts paying on launch day.
- Make the trial count. Pair it with a welcome email that points new members to the best things to try first.
- Inviting specific people? Subscriber invites let you set a Billing Starts date for each person instead.
Free-trial codes only apply to subscriptions. If your membership is a One-time purchase, the code is refused at checkout with "Free trial promotions cannot be applied to one-time purchases".
What your members see
They choose a plan on your pricing page and click Continue. On the Subscribe page they open Have a promo code?, type the code and click Apply. The order then shows the code with "N days free", Due today drops to $0, and the button reads Start N-Day Free Trial. Below it they're told "Your first charge is after the N-day trial." They add a payment method, and their first payment is taken when the trial ends.
