Membership
Migrate members from another platform
Bring your existing paying members to Soul with personal invites, keeping their price and choosing when billing starts.
Move your members from Patreon, Kajabi, Mighty Networks or anywhere else, without charging anyone twice.
When to use this
- You're moving a paying membership to Soul.
- You want to invite a founding group at a special price.
- You want members to keep paying what they paid before, starting on a date you choose.
Before you start
- Set your membership price on Soul. Invites use your tiers or range.
- If members should pay less than your listed price, create a promo code for My Portal (for example 100% off, Forever, for members who already paid elsewhere).
- Export your member list from your old platform as a CSV with at least name and email.
- Decide when billing on Soul should start: ideally the day after their last payment on the old platform ends.
Open Add/Invite
Go to Business → Customers & Subscribers and click Add/Invite. Choose Invite subscribers.
Import your list
In Invite Subscriber, turn on Bulk import and click Import CSV. Soul reads your columns for you, including amount and billing start date if you have them. Or click Add Row to add people one by one.
Check each row
For each person, check Name and Email, choose their Tier (or Amount ($/mo) if you use a range), optionally a Promo Code, and a Billing Starts date. Billing dates must be more than 2 days away.
Send
Click Send Invites. You'll see, for example, "12 invites sent successfully". If any email already belongs to an active subscriber, nothing is sent and you'll see "These emails already belong to active subscribers: …". Remove those rows and click Send Invites again.
Cancel on the old platform
Once members have accepted, cancel their subscriptions on your old platform, so nobody pays twice.
Track your invites
Click View Invites on Customers & Subscribers:
| Status | Means |
|---|---|
| Active | Sent and waiting to be claimed |
| Accepted | The member has joined |
| Expired | Not claimed in time. Click Resend. |
| Revoked | You cancelled it |
Resend & copy sends the invite again and copies the new link, so you can also send it yourself by text or DM. Cancel withdraws an invite.
Tips
- Email members first from your old platform, so the invite isn't a surprise. Tell them it comes from Soul.
- Use Billing Starts to avoid double-charging. Members aren't charged on Soul until that date.
- Invites are monthly. Members invited this way are billed monthly.
- No CSV handy? Share your pricing link with a 100%-off, forever promo code limited to the number of members you're moving.
Members must accept their invite to become subscribers. Keep an eye on View Invites and resend to anyone still Active after a few days.
What your members see
An email inviting them to your membership. The link opens their invite page, Membership Subscription, which lists their price, any promo code and Billing starts with your date. Beside it, under "Claim your membership invite", they create an account or sign in and click Continue with invite. If you have a pre-subscription form, they fill it in next (Complete your form). Then a Secure checkout opens on the same page, with their promo code already applied.
