Ask questions before someone subscribes
Collect information from new members before checkout, and write the FAQ for your membership.
Use Business → Onboarding ("Set up what new subscribers see: a pre-subscription form and your FAQ.") to shape the moment someone joins.
When to use this
- You need something from every new member: their goals, their Instagram handle, an intake question.
- People keep emailing the same questions before they join.
Add a pre-subscription form
Open the Forms tab
Go to Business → Onboarding and open Forms. Click Add form.
Choose or create the form
In Pre purchase form, pick a form under Use Existing Form and click Apply. Or click Or create new form: give it a Form Title, an optional Description, and choose Contact Information (Required, Optional or Anonymous). Click Create Form, then Edit Questions to add your questions.
Choose whether to ask again
Tick Allow one-time submission reuse if someone who has already answered shouldn't be asked again next time they buy.
Check it
The form now shows "Required before checkout". Responses appear under Form Responses on the same tab.
To change or remove it, click Manage form, then Change Attached Form or Remove.
Read the answers
Once a form is attached, its responses appear on the same Forms tab, under Manage form:
- The header counts them, for example "8 responses collected", or says "Waiting for submissions".
- Click a response to open it and read each question and answer. Expand All and Collapse All open or close them all.
- Click Export CSV for a spreadsheet with one row per response and one column per question.
Answers are stored as form responses, so you can also find a member's answers on the Forms tab of their profile. See View a person's profile.
Customise your FAQ
The pricing page new members join from doesn't show your FAQ. It appears only on the page a former member opens to resubscribe. Put anything new members need to know in your bio, which shows at the top of the pricing page.
Open the FAQ tab
Go to Business → Onboarding → FAQ. If you leave it empty, members see a default FAQ with four questions: whether their data is private, whether they can cancel or change plan any time, how often they'll hear from you, and what makes your portal different from free content.
Write your questions
Optionally set a Title (e.g. Frequently Asked Questions) and Description. Click Add Question for each one and fill in the Question and Answer. You need at least one question to save.
Save
Click Save FAQ. You'll see "FAQ saved successfully." To go back to the default, click Delete FAQ.
Tips
- Keep the form short. Every question is a reason to leave checkout. Ask only what you'll use.
- Ask for links, not files. Forms can't accept uploads. Ask for a Google Drive or Dropbox link instead.
- Good FAQ questions: What's included? How do I cancel? When am I charged? What if I miss a live session? Who is this for?
- Answers are stored as form responses, not as fields on the person's profile.
- The default FAQ promises members they can cancel any time and hear from you regularly. If that's not true for your membership, write your own.
- Soul AI can attach a pre-subscription form for you. Ask on Home: "Ask new subscribers for their Instagram handle before they join."
What your members see
After choosing their price on your pricing page and creating an account or signing in, members see "A few questions from <your portal name>" with your form. They answer and click Continue to Payment, then pay on the Subscribe page. If you ticked Allow one-time submission reuse and they've answered before, they go straight to payment.
