Forms & Funnels
Forms & Funnels
Collect sign-ups, intake answers, applications, waivers and feedback, and turn a form into a funnel that takes someone from a free download to a paid offering.
Audience → Forms & Funnels: "Gather information from your community." A form is a page of questions with its own link. Every submission is saved on the form, and the person behind it joins your audience so you can follow up. Put a form behind a free download, a button on your portal, a landing page or an offering, and it becomes the first step of a funnel.
Two types of form
You choose the type when you create the form. It can't be changed afterwards, so pick the one that matches the job.
| Lead Form | Custom Form | |
|---|---|---|
| In the dashboard | "Lead forms collect contact information from your community" | "Custom forms allow you to create questions and gather custom responses" |
| Questions | Fixed: First Name, Last Name, Email address and Phone Number, all required. You can't add more. | Your own questions, in any order, after a contact block you set to Required, Optional or Anonymous |
| Submissions are called | Leads | Responses |
| Free download (Landing Page tab) | Yes | No |
| Automatic email after submission | Only the free-download email | Any email you write, from the Automation tab |
| Can be required before booking or buying | No | Yes |
| Behind a Get updates button on your portal | Yes | No |
| Its own audience in announcements | Yes: "Leads from [form] form" | No |
| Use it for | Newsletter, launch list, freebie sign-ups, "keep me posted" | Intake, applications, consent and waivers, surveys, feedback |
Not sure? If all you need is someone's name and email, use a Lead Form. If you need to ask anything else, use a Custom Form.
What a funnel is in Soul
A funnel is the path someone takes from first hearing about you to becoming a client. Soul doesn't have a separate funnel builder. You build one by connecting pieces you already have:
- A way in: a link in your bio, an AutoDM reply, a landing page, or a Get updates button on your portal.
- A reason to sign up: a free guide or meditation attached to a lead form, delivered the moment they submit.
- A record of who they are: every submission lands on the form and in Audience → People.
- A follow-up: an announcement to "Leads from [form] form", or an automatic email from a custom form.
- The next step: a session, event, course or membership, with a custom form required before they book or buy if you need one.
See Plan a funnel from first visit to first booking for a worked example.
When to use forms vs other tools
| If you want… | Use |
|---|---|
| Emails in exchange for a free guide | A lead form with a free download |
| A sign-up button on your portal | A lead form behind a Get updates button |
| Questions before a session, event, purchase or membership | A custom form required before that offering |
| A signed waiver or consent | A custom form with a Signature or consent question |
| Honest feedback after a program | An anonymous custom form |
| A free download that unlocks on the item's own page | A Content Library lead magnet |
| A designed sales page with a form on it | A landing page with your form embedded |
| Open discussion with members | Your community |
Where it lives
Audience → Forms & Funnels lists every form with a Lead or Custom pill and the date it was created. Search the list, or filter it with All, Lead and Custom (each shows a count). Each row has a share button that copies the form's link, and a ⋯ menu with Edit, Copy Link and Delete.
Click a form to open it. The header shows its title and description, with:
- ⋯: Edit title & description, and Delete.
- Preview: opens the live form in a new tab.
- Share: copies the form's link.
Then the tabs:
| Tab | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Questions | Lead forms: see the four fixed fields. Custom forms: set the contact requirement, then add, edit, duplicate, delete and drag questions into order. |
| Leads (lead forms) | Everyone who signed up. Add Lead, edit or delete a lead, open one to add a Creator Note, Download as CSV. |
| Responses (custom forms) | Every submission. Search, See Answers, Schedule a 1:1 session, delete, Export Responses. |
| Landing Page (lead forms) | Turn the form page into an opt-in page with a headline, image and a free download. |
| Automation (custom forms) | "Automate actions after someone submits this form." Send them an email. |

Limits and good-to-knows
- The form type is fixed once created. To switch, create a new form of the other type.
- No file or photo uploads. Ask for a link instead (Google Drive, Dropbox, an Instagram post).
- No logic or branching: everyone sees every question, in order.
- You can't change the thank-you message or send people to another page after they submit.
- One form per offering. Attaching a new form to an offering replaces the old one.
- Only custom forms can be required before checkout or booking.
- Soul doesn't email you for each new submission. Check the Leads or Responses tab, or Audience → People.
- Deleting a form can't be undone. Download its leads or responses first.
- Test every form yourself before you share it. If it can't be submitted, you lose those sign-ups.
You can also ask Soul AI to build a form: describe what you want to ask and it drafts the questions for you to approve.
