Create a lead or custom form, rename it, preview and share it, find it again, and delete it safely.

Everything about a form, other than its questions and submissions, is managed from Audience → Forms & Funnels and the form's own page.

When to use this

  • You're making your first form.
  • You want to rename a form or change the text above its questions.
  • You're tidying up old forms.

Create a form

Open Forms & Funnels

Go to Audience → Forms & Funnels and click Add Form. If you have no forms yet, the page shows "Create your first form"; click Create Form.

Name and describe it

In Create Form, enter a Form Title. It's the heading people see. Add a Description if you want a short intro above the questions, for example why you're asking and how long it takes.

Choose the Form Type

Pick Lead Form or Custom Form. You can't change this later. See the two types.

Set Contact Information (custom forms)

For a custom form, choose Required ("Respondents must provide contact information"), Optional ("Contact information is optional for respondents") or Anonymous ("Respondents remain anonymous"). You can change this later on the Questions tab.

Create it

Click Create Form. The form opens on its Questions tab. A lead form is ready to use straight away. A custom form needs at least one question: see Question types.

Choosing the contact requirement

The contact block sits at the top of every custom form, before your own questions.

SettingWhat respondents seeWhat you get
RequiredEmail and full name fields, both requiredEvery response has a name and email, and the person is added to your audience.
OptionalThe same fields, marked (Optional)Names and emails only from people who chose to give them.
AnonymousNo contact fieldsAnswers only. You can't tell who sent them or follow up.

A respondent with no email can't be added to Audience → People or emailed by an automation, so Anonymous forms don't feed your funnel. Use them for honest feedback, not lead capture.

Rename or re-describe a form

Open the form, click ⋯ in the header and choose Edit title & description. Change the Title or Description and click Save. Changes save on their own a moment later, and the live form updates.

Preview and share

  • Preview opens the live form in a new tab, exactly as visitors see it. Submit it once yourself to test.
  • Share (or Copy Link on the forms list) copies the form's link. Paste it anywhere: your bio, an email, a message.

For every other place a form can go, see Share and embed a form.

Find a form

The forms list shows each form's title, its Lead or Custom pill, its description and when it was created. Type in Search forms… to match on title or description, and use All, Lead and Custom to filter.

Delete a form

Save what you need

Open the form and download its submissions: Download as CSV on the Leads tab, or Export Responses on the Responses tab.

Check where it is used

Make sure no offering requires it, no Get updates button on your portal opens it, and no landing page embeds it. Point those at another form first.

Delete

On the forms list, click ⋯ → Delete and confirm. Or open the form and use ⋯ → Delete in the header.

"This action cannot be undone." A Get updates button pointing at a deleted form stops working, and a landing page that embedded it shows visitors "Unable to load form." instead.

Good to know

  • To switch a lead form to a custom form, or the other way round, create a new form. The type can't be changed.
  • There's no duplicate-form option. To reuse a form's questions, create a new custom form and add them again.
  • The form link works as soon as the form is created. There's no draft or publish step, so share it only when it's ready.
