Your contact list and CRM: everyone in your audience in one place, from new leads to paying customers and subscribers.

Audience → People is your contact list: "Everyone in your audience, from new leads to customers and subscribers." Everyone who fills in one of your forms, registers for an event, books a session, buys something, subscribes or joins your community lands here automatically, and you can add, import and tag people yourself. Open anyone to see their purchases, sessions, form answers, community activity and your private notes about them.

Key ideas

A person

One record per human on your portal. Soul recognises the same person by their email address or phone number, so someone who signs up through a form, later registers for an event and then subscribes is one person with all of that history, not three rows.

Relationship

Every person has a Relationship, shown as a pill in the list and in their profile header.

RelationshipMeans
LeadIn your audience but hasn't paid you anything yet: a form sign-up, a free event registration, a free session, a free download, a community member, an import or someone you added.
CustomerHas made at least one paid purchase: a session, ticket, course, content, collection, pass, chat space or membership. They become a Customer automatically the moment a payment succeeds.
SubscriberHas an active membership on your portal right now. When it ends, the pill goes back to Customer (or Lead, if they never paid) and they count as a Past subscriber.

A Relationship only moves forward on its own. A Lead who buys becomes a Customer, and nobody is turned back into a Lead.

Source

How the person first arrived. It's recorded once and never changes: Form, Event Registration, Session, Creator Subscriber, Content Purchase, Collection Purchase, Course Enrollment, User Pass, Chat Space Member, Community or Manual (added or imported by you). See How people join your list.

Activity

What the person has done since, such as a form submission, a portal visit, claiming a freebie, a purchase, an event registration or cancellation, a booked or cancelled session, a new subscription, joining a chat space, enrolling in or completing a course, and emails received, opened or clicked. You can filter the list by any of these.

Tags

Your own labels, such as retreat-2026, vip or kajabi-import. Add them when you add or import people, or later from a profile. Each tag becomes a ready-made audience when you send an announcement.

Community membership

Whether the person is currently a member of your community. Joining your community adds someone to People automatically; being in People doesn't put anyone in your community.

The People screen

At the top: the page title, Export CSV (once anyone is in the list) and Add/Invite. Below that, the list:

How People connects to the rest of Soul

FeatureConnection
Forms & FunnelsA lead form or custom form submission with a name and email adds or updates a person, with Source Form.
Offerings: events, sessions, courses, content, passes, chat spacesRegistering, booking, enrolling or buying adds the person. Paying makes them a Customer.
MembershipSubscribing adds them and marks them as an Active subscriber.
CommunityJoining your community adds them with Source Community, and their profile gains a Community tab.
AutoDMAn Instagram follower who opens your DM link and then signs up or buys is matched to their person in People.
AnnouncementsEveryone, All Leads, All Customers, All Subscribers, form sign-ups, event guests and each of your tags are audiences you can send to. See Reach people from your list.
Business → Customers & SubscribersThe same people, limited to customers and subscribers, plus subscriber invites and the welcome email.

Limits and good-to-knows

  • All people includes leads, so it isn't your paying-subscriber count. For that, use Customers & subscribers → Active subscribers, or Business → Customers & Subscribers.
  • There's no bulk select. To act on a group, tag them and send them an announcement, or export them.
  • Source can't be edited. It's the first way the person reached you.
  • The Tag filter needs the exact tag, letter for letter.
  • Purchases, Sessions and Forms on a profile need the person to have a Soul account. People you added or imported, and people who only filled in a form, show "Not Available Yet" (or "Coming Soon" on Forms) until they sign up or buy.
  • Adding, importing, editing, tagging and noting people need an active Soul plan. Without one you'll see "This action requires an active subscription. Please select your plan in the dashboard." Viewing and exporting your list still work.
  • Your list is yours. Soul never sells your or your members' data, and members never see your tags or notes.

Only add or import people who agreed to hear from you. Every manual add and import asks you to confirm "I confirm I have obtained consent to upload this contact information." and you're responsible for that consent.

FAQ

Someone registered for my event but shows as a Lead. Why?

The ticket was free (or fully discounted). People become Customers only when a payment goes through. They're still in your list, and Activity → Event registration finds them.

Someone bought from me but I can't find them

Search by part of their email rather than their name, since the name in People is the one on their account or form. If they used a different email from the one you know, they're listed under that one.

Why is my People count bigger than my subscriber count?

All people includes leads, one-off customers and past subscribers. For paying members, open Customers & subscribers → Active subscribers.

The same person is in my list twice. Can I merge them?

There's no merge. Soul only treats records as the same person when they share an email or phone number. Keep the one with their history, copy any notes or tags across, then delete the other with ⋯ → Delete Member.

Can I see a timeline of everything someone did?

Not as one feed. Their profile shows Purchases, Sessions, Forms and Community activity on separate tabs, and you can filter the list by Activity.
