Add a lead or a customer to People by hand, or send someone a membership invite they can claim.

Add someone to Audience → People yourself, so they're in your list, tagged and ready to hear from you, even though they never filled in a form or bought on Soul.

When to use this

  • You met someone at a workshop and they asked to stay in touch.
  • A client paid you in cash or by bank transfer and you want them recorded as a customer.
  • You want to invite one person into your paid membership at a price you choose.
  • For a whole list, use Import your contacts instead.

Add a lead

Open Add leads

Go to Audience → People, click Add/Invite and choose Add leads. Single Lead is selected.

Fill in their details

First Name, Last Name and Email are required. Phone Number is optional; pick the country from the flag first.

Tag them

Under Tags, type tags separated by commas, for example "newsletter, vip, early-adopter".

Confirm consent

Tick "I confirm I have obtained consent to upload this contact information." Add Lead stays disabled until you do.

Save

Click Add Lead. You'll see "Lead added successfully!"

Add a customer

Use this for someone who has paid you outside Soul, so they count as a customer from the start.

Open Add customers

Click Add/Invite and choose Add customers. The Add customer form opens.

Fill in what you know

Full name, Email, Phone number, Birthday, Tags (comma-separated, for example "vip, webinar-2025"), Country, State / Region, City and Zip / Postal code. Give at least a name and an email or a phone number. Write phone numbers with the country code, for example +14155550123. Soul checks that the number can be a real phone number before it saves.

Confirm consent and save

Tick the consent box and click Add customer. You'll see "Customer added successfully!"

A customer you add by hand has no Soul account yet, so the All Customers audience in announcements doesn't include them. Give them a tag and send to "People tagged …" instead. See Reach people from your list.

Invite a subscriber

An invite is an email offer to join your membership at the amount you set. The person becomes a Subscriber when they accept and check out.

Set your membership price first

Invites use your tiers or price range, so set your membership pricing before you start.

Open Invite subscribers

Click Add/Invite and choose Invite subscribers. The Invite Subscriber window opens.

Fill in the invite

Customer Name, Customer Email, the Subscription Tier (or an amount within your range), an optional Promo Code and an optional Billing Starts date. Billing must start more than 2 days from now.

Send

Click Send Invite. For many people at once, turn on Bulk import and add rows or use Import CSV, then click Send Invites.

Follow invites from Business → Customers & Subscribers → View Invites. Moving a whole paying membership from another platform? Follow Migrate members from another platform.

What happens next

  • The person appears in People straight away, at the top of the list.
  • Added people get no email from Soul. They hear from you when you send an announcement. Invited subscribers do get an invite email.
  • If they later sign up or buy on your portal with the same email, Soul links their account to the record you created and keeps your tags and notes.

Gotchas

  • Someone already in People? If the email or phone number matches an existing person, Soul updates that person instead of adding a second one. Their name, phone, birthday, address and tags are replaced with what you entered, so include any tags you want to keep.
  • Adding a customer never downgrades anyone. Adding someone who's already a Customer as a lead leaves them a Customer.
  • Names need at least 2 characters, tags at least 2 characters each, and phone numbers must be real numbers that include the country code.
  • If any invite email belongs to someone who's already an active subscriber, nothing is sent and you'll see "These emails already belong to active subscribers: …". Remove those rows and send again.
  • Adding people needs an active Soul plan.
