Host workshops, classes, circles, retreats and webinars, one-off or repeating, with tickets, registrations and everything around them.

An Event is a group gathering with a date and time that many people can attend: a workshop, a weekly class, a monthly circle, a retreat, a webinar. You set when and where it happens, add one or more Tickets (free or paid), and members register. Around each event you can message registrants, share materials, open a group chat, collect a form, and let people vote on a time.

What members experience

  1. A member finds the event in the Events section of your portal, or opens a link you shared (the event's Share button copies it).
  2. The event page shows the cover image, title, date and time with time zone, Online or the venue, a description, and a Registration card with your tickets.
  3. They pick a ticket and click Register (free) or Get Ticket (paid). A free ticket with nothing to answer registers them straight away. Otherwise they go to checkout, where they pick their dates for a pick-your-dates ticket (Dates), answer your registration form if you added one, can enter a code under Have a promo code?, and click Register or Register & Pay.
  4. They land on their ticket page, with a QR code for check-in, and get a confirmation email. Soul then emails a reminder 2 days, 1 day and 1 hour before the event. For a repeating event, reminders go out before each upcoming date.
  5. Everything about their registration is on their ticket page. They reach it with View Ticket on the event page, from the Calendar tab in Activity, or from Purchases for a paid ticket. It shows the date and time, a Join Online button or the venue with directions, Resources (materials you shared), your blasts under Messages from <your portal name>, and the Event chat if you opened one. They can Cancel registration there too, and then Request a refund if your refund policy allows it.

For the full member view, see Events for members.

Anatomy of an event

An event has four layers. You set them up roughly in this order:

  1. The event itself: title, schedule, place, visibility.
  2. Tickets: who can register, at what price, how many.
  3. Registrations: one record per person who signed up.
  4. Extras around it: blasts, content, chat space, forms, promotions, automation, timing poll.

Limits and good-to-knows

  • Turn on the Events section. Publishing doesn't put the event on your portal home by itself. Turn on the Events section in My Portal → Design.
  • Soul doesn't create meeting links for events. Paste your own link. Zoom links are created automatically for 1:1 sessions only.
  • Automatic reminders go by email to confirmed registrants 2 days, 1 day and 1 hour before the event (before each upcoming date for a repeating event). You don't need to set them up.
  • Repeating events that never end can only use Flat Rate pricing with an All Access ticket: "Only flat pricing is allowed for forever events with all/future access for now." Give your series an end if you want per-date pricing.
  • Capacity on repeating events can't be edited when tickets use All Access join policies. Soul manages the seat count across the series.
  • Refunds can only be issued after the registration is cancelled, for a paid ticket, before the event ends.
  • Registrations on mobile: use a computer for the most complete registration list.
  • Double-check times after publishing. Open your public event page and check the date, time and timezone. For audiences across timezones, adding "6pm PT / 9pm ET" to the description helps.
  • Deleting an event "will permanently delete this item and related tickets/content. This action cannot be undone."
  • Passes: one-off events can be included in a pass. Repeating events can't.
  • Not available yet for events: scheduled price changes (use a code with an expiry instead) and guest checkout without an account (beta, may not be in your account yet).
