Events
Offer a discount code for an event
Create a promo code that takes a percentage or a fixed amount off one event, several events, or all of them.
You'll end up with a code, like EARLYBIRD, that members type at checkout to pay less for your event.
When to use this
- Early-bird pricing that ends on a date.
- A thank-you discount for past attendees or a partner's community.
- A limited number of discounted spots, such as "first 10 people get 30% off".
Steps
Open Promotions
Go to Business → Pricing and open the Promotions tab. Click Create Promotion.
Name the code
In Code, type the code members will enter, for example EARLYBIRD or SPRING25. Use uppercase
letters and numbers.
Choose the event
Under Applicable Offerings, click Add Offering Type and choose Event. Then click Specify Offerings and tick the events it's for. If you don't pick any, the code applies to all your events.
Describe it
Add a Description, for example "Early bird: 25% off until May 1". You'll see it when picking codes elsewhere in your dashboard.
Set the discount
Under Benefit Type, pick Percentage off and enter the Percent Off (1–100), or Fixed amount off and enter the Amount Off ($).
Add limits (optional)
Under Additional Rules: - Expire after specific period: pick a date and time. Use this for early bird. - Limit total uses: for "first 10 people". - Limit uses per user: usually 1.
Create it and share it
Click Create Promotion. Share the code in your event description, a blast or an announcement.
Shortcut: open the event and use its Promotions tab to see and create codes for just that event.
Tell people where to enter it: "Click Have a promo code? at checkout and enter EARLYBIRD."
Good to know
- One code, many offerings. The same code can cover events plus sessions, courses or your membership. Add each type under Applicable Offerings.
- Codes are for paid tickets. There's nothing to discount on a free ticket.
- Decide on an expiry on purpose. A code without an end date keeps working until you deactivate it.
- Other places codes show up. When you Add Attendee with Send invite, you can pick a code for the invite.
- Prefer a lower price for a fixed number of seats? An "Early Bird" ticket with its own capacity works without a code. See Set up tickets and pricing.
What your members see
At checkout for a paid ticket, they click Have a promo code?, enter it and click Apply. A valid code shows as Promo code with the code and the amount taken off, and the Total drops. A code that can't be used shows why under the field.
