Give away a free meditation to grow your list

Offer a free recording or PDF that people unlock by filling in a short form, so you capture their name and email.

When to use this

  • You want a free gift (a meditation, a workbook, a mini-class) that brings new people to you.
  • You want their name and email in return, plus maybe one or two questions.
  • You want to share one link on Instagram, in your bio or in an email.

How it works

A free item with no form is open to anyone, with no sign-in. Once you attach a Pre-Purchase Form, people have to fill it in first. The item is still free. They sign in or create an account on your portal, answer your questions, and the item unlocks. Their answers land in Audience → Forms & Funnels.

Make the form (optional, you can also do it in step 4)

Go to Audience → Forms & Funnels and create a custom form with the questions you want. Keep it short: name, email and one question converts best. Lead forms can't be used here, only custom forms.

Add the item

Go to Offerings → Content Library, open the Content tab and click Add Content. Choose File and upload your audio or PDF. Add a Title, a Description that says what they'll get, and a Thumbnail (optional). Set Visibility to Public so anyone can reach it. Click Save.

Leave it free

On the Pricing step, don't add a price (or set Regular Price to $0). Click Save.

Attach the form

On the Form step, click Add Form. Pick your form under Use Existing Form, or click Or create new form. For a new form, set Contact Information to Required so you always get a name and email, then Create Form and Edit Questions. Click Apply (for an existing form), then Done.

Test it

Open the item in a private browser window, using Copy Link from the card's ⋯ menu. Go through the form yourself and check the response appears in Forms & Funnels.

Share the link

Paste the link in your bio, stories or emails. To show it on your portal too, see Feature content on your portal.

Tips

  • Tick "Allow one-time submission reuse" if you gate several free gifts with the same form. People who already answered won't be asked again.
  • Gate a whole series at once. Put several free items in a collection and attach the form to the collection (More actions → Attach Form). One form unlocks the whole set.
  • Follow up by hand or with an announcement. Everyone who unlocked the gift is in your form responses, so you can reach out personally or invite them to subscribe.
  • Sensitive topics? When you create the form, set Contact Information to Anonymous. Responses aren't linked to the person, but you won't capture an email either. For a lead magnet, keep it Required.

Test the form before you share the link. If the form can't be submitted, nobody can reach your free gift.

What your members see

The item page shows your title, description and "Quick Form Required" with "Complete the form below to unlock this content". People who aren't signed in see "Create an account to complete the form and access this content" and a Get Access button. After they submit, the player or Download PDF button appears, and the item stays unlocked for them.
