Import a library collection into a course as modules and lessons, without uploading anything again.

When to use this

  • Your series has grown into a program, and you want lessons, progress and structure.
  • You recorded content in the library first and now want to package it as a course.
  • You want to reuse the same recordings in a course without uploading them again.

How it works

The import reads a collection and builds course modules from it:

  • Items directly in the collection become one module, named after the collection.
  • Each Folder becomes its own module. Items in deeper folders are pulled into that module.
  • Videos become video lessons.
  • Articles become article lessons.
  • Images are added into an article lesson.
  • Audio and documents become article lessons with the file attached.

Get the collection ready

In Offerings → Content Library, put items in the order you want with More actions → Reorder. Use folders for the modules you want.

Open the course

Go to Offerings → Courses and open the course, or create one.

Start the import

In Course Structure, open the add menu and choose Import from Collection.

Pick the collection

Choose the collection ("Select a collection to import as modules"). Expand it to pick a folder instead if you only want part of it.

Preview and import

Check the Preview Import: you'll see "Create N modules with N lessons". Tick "Publish all lessons immediately (instead of saving as drafts)" if you want them live straight away. Then start the import. You'll see "Import complete!" when it's done.

Tidy up the lessons

Open each lesson to add text, reorder, or mark free previews.

Adding single items

Inside a lesson, use Pick from Content Library to reuse one library file (a video, image, audio or document) instead of uploading it again.

Good to know

  • Nothing is moved or deleted from your library. The import copies items into the course. Once you've checked the course, you can archive the library items if you no longer want them sold separately.
  • Course pricing is separate. Set the price on the course. The collection's price doesn't carry over.
  • If some lessons fail, you'll see "Import completed with errors". The other lessons are kept. Add the missing ones by hand.

If you leave the original collection published and priced, people can still buy it separately from the course. Move it to draft or archive its items once the course is live, so you don't sell the same material twice.
