Email just the right people: one form's sign-ups, one event's guests, a tag, a place, your subscribers or your community.

Not every message is for everyone. Pick one or more audiences so only the people it's meant for are notified.

When to use this

  • You want to follow up with everyone who downloaded your freebie.
  • You want to remind one event's guests of something.
  • You want to talk only to your community, your paying subscribers, or people in one city.

Pick the audience

The Send to list is built from your own data, so it only offers forms, events, tags and places you actually have.

Write the announcement

Go to Audience → Announcements, click Create New, and write your title and post.

Choose who's notified

Keep Notify members on and pick your audiences under Send to ("Choose recipient sources..."). Remove one with its ×.

Set visibility to match the audience

Under "Who do you want to send to?" choose Public, Private (subscribers only) or Unlisted (link only). Some audiences decide this for you. See the table below.

Choose when

Pick Immediately, or Scheduled with a date and time. See Schedule an announcement.

Preview, then publish

Click Preview to send yourself a test. Then click Publish and confirm with Publish & Notify.

Don't send a Private announcement to anyone who isn't a subscriber: customers, event guests, tagged people or community members. They'll follow the link and won't be able to open the post.

Tips

  • Tag as you go. Tags on imports and manual adds make segments easy later. See People.
  • Reaching customers you added by hand? All Customers skips customers without a Soul account. Give them a tag and send to "People tagged [tag]" instead. See Reach people from your list.
  • Start from Community. On Community → Overview, "Send an announcement" opens a new announcement already addressed to All Community Members. See Announce to your community.
  • Thank your freebie sign-ups. A short note to "Leads from [form] form" a few days after they download is a gentle next step. See Build a lead funnel.
  • Location audiences come from subscribers' profiles. Subscribers who never filled in a city, state or country aren't in any place audience.
  • Event guests or ticket groups only? An event's own Blasts can target one ticket type and keep the message on each registration.

What your audience sees

Only the people in the audiences you picked are notified, by email or text. Everyone else can still find the post on your portal if it's Public (or Private, for subscribers), and nobody else can see an Unlisted one without the link.
