Announcements
Write an announcement
Use the announcement editor: title, thumbnail, rich text with images, audio files and voice memos, and the email header and footer.
The editor is where your announcement takes shape. It's the same whether you publish quietly to your portal or send it to thousands of inboxes.
When to use this
- You're writing your first announcement and want to know what each part does.
- You want to share a voice note or a recorded meditation with your audience.
- You want your announcement to look good when it's shared on social media.
Open the editor
Go to Audience → Announcements and click Create New. To change one you've already written, open it and click Edit, or use Edit / Edit Draft in the card's ⋯ menu.
The bar at the top shows the title (or "Untitled Announcement") with Email Settings, Preview, Save Draft and Publish. On a phone, Email Settings, Preview Email and Save Draft move into the ⋮ menu.
The parts, top to bottom
Title
Type it where it says "Your post title...". It's required, it heads the post on your portal, and it's the subject line of the email.
Thumbnail Image (optional)
Upload a 16:9 image. It's "Used for previews and social sharing", for example the card on your portal and the preview when someone pastes the link. If you skip it, the first image in the body is used.
Visibility and notifications
"Who do you want to send to?" sets who can see the post on your portal. Notify members (on by default) is where you choose who gets an email and when. See Send an announcement to a segment.
Email Header & Footer
This box tells you whether your emails carry a custom header or footer. Click Configure Email Settings (or Edit Email Settings) to change them in a new tab. They apply to every announcement email, not just this one.
Body
Write your post in the rich-text editor. Add images where you want them in the flow of the text. The body is required to publish.
Add to your post
Click Audio File to upload a recording, or Record Voice Memo to record one in your browser (click the square to stop). Each appears as an attachment you can play back or remove with ×. More Options (images, videos and documents as files) is marked "Coming soon".
What members see
| Where | What shows |
|---|---|
| Your portal | The title, the body with its images, and any audio as a player. The card uses the thumbnail or first image. |
| The email | The title as subject, your header, the title (if on), the body with images, a link to the post, your footer. |
| A text message | A short message with a link to the post. |
Audio isn't included in the email itself. Mention it in your text, for example "Listen to the voice note on my portal", so readers click through.
Tips
- Lead with the point. The first lines show as the excerpt on your list and in previews.
- Keep images light. Large images make emails slow to open on a phone.
- Use a voice memo for warmth. A one-minute voice note often lands better than another paragraph.
- Allow the microphone. If the browser asks, allow it, or you'll see "Could not access microphone. Please check your permissions."
- Let Soul AI draft it. Ask Soul AI to write an announcement in your voice. It saves it as a draft for you to check.
Your work isn't saved automatically. Click Save Draft (with Notify members off) to keep it without publishing. See Drafts and test emails.
