Announcements
Announce to your community
Email your community members, including those who aren't subscribers, with an announcement that stays off your public portal.
Your community and your subscribers aren't always the same people. An announcement to All Community Members reaches everyone active in your community, and is set up so they can all open it.
When to use this
- You're opening a new circle or gathering and want every member to know.
- You want to share news with the community only, not your whole audience.
- Your community includes free members who don't have a membership.
Start from Community
Go to Community → Overview and choose "Send an announcement". The editor opens with All Community Members already under Send to. You can also start from Audience → Announcements → Create New and pick All Community Members yourself.
Write it
Add a title and your message. See Write an announcement.
Check visibility
Visibility is set to Unlisted and locked: "Community-only announcements are unlisted and cannot be made public."
Preview and send
Click Preview to test, then Publish. Choose Immediately or Scheduled and click Publish & Notify.
Why unlisted
Private posts need an active membership, and some community members don't have one. Unlisted means anyone with the link (everyone you emailed) can open it, while it stays off your public portal and your Community Notes list.
Mixing audiences
If you add another audience alongside All Community Members, visibility is yours to choose again. Pick Public or Unlisted. Private would lock out community members who aren't subscribers.
Who's included
Active members of your community only. People who left or were removed aren't emailed. Someone who is also in another audience you picked gets one email.
Tips
- Want replies and conversation? Post in your community too. See Post to your community.
- Keep it short and point to where the conversation happens, for example a circle or a gathering.
What members see
An email from your portal name with the announcement, and a link that opens it on your portal. It isn't listed on your portal for other visitors.
