Set up a short, free intro call that new people can book straight from your portal.

A free discovery call lowers the barrier for someone who's curious but not ready to pay. You get to meet them, they get to feel what working with you is like.

When to use this

  • People find you online and want to talk before committing.
  • You sell a bigger package or program and want a natural first step.
  • You want a single link for your bio, emails and social posts.

Set it up

Create the session type

Go to Offerings → 1:1 Sessions and click New Session Type. Name it, for example Free Discovery Call, pick 30 minutes (or 15) under Duration, and leave Pricing on Free. Click Next.

Choose how you'll meet

Under "How do you want to host this session?" tick Online (and/or In Person). Click Create Session Type. Soul opens the new session's page.

Add your hours

On the Availability tab, click + Hours next to each day you take calls and add a time slot, for example Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 to 12:00. Keeping discovery hours narrow protects your paid time.

Assign yourself as host

In the Staff row on the left, click +, then Add Staff and pick yourself (your card is marked You). If you're not in the list, add yourself first under Business → Resources → Staff → Add Staff. The "Assign at least one host" check clears.

Confirm bookings automatically

In the Session details card, switch on Automatic Booking Confirmation. A free call rarely needs approval, and people like getting their link right away.

Make the page inviting

Click Edit. Add a Headline such as "A relaxed 30 minutes to see if we're a fit" and a Description of what you'll cover. Click Update, then upload a cover image on the left.

Share the link

Open the … menu at the top and choose Share to copy the link. Put it in your bio, welcome email or website.

Tips

  • Ask a few questions first. Attach a short intake form ("What brings you here?") so you arrive prepared.
  • Set a minimum notice. In One-on-One Settings, Minimum Notice Time stops people booking a call that starts in ten minutes.
  • Follow up automatically. On the Automation tab, send a welcome email after each booking. See Send emails automatically after booking.
  • Mention your paid offer. End the description with the next step, such as your paid session or package.

Free doesn't mean anonymous. Clients still sign in or create an account to book, which also adds them to your audience.

What your members see

Your call appears on your sessions page with no price. They pick a time and click Book Now. If you attached a form, they answer it on the Confirm Booking page and click Book Now there. There's no payment step. They land on their booking page, which shows Confirmed (or Awaiting confirmation if you approve bookings manually), with the meeting details once the booking is confirmed.
