Courses
Move a course from another platform
Rebuild your course on Soul and let your existing students in for free, so nobody pays twice.
You rebuild the course on Soul, import your students' contact details, and give them a 100%-off promo code so they can enroll at no cost. New students pay as normal.
When to use this
- You're moving from Teachable, Kajabi, Thinkific, Podia or similar.
- Your students already paid elsewhere and should keep their access.
- You want one home for your course, community and membership.
Steps
Gather your material
Download your lesson videos, PDFs and worksheets from your old platform, and export your student list as a CSV (first name, last name and email).
Rebuild the course
Create the course and its modules on Soul. See Build and publish a self-paced course.
Faster: upload your files to the Content Library in one collection per module, then use Import from Collection to create the modules and lessons in one go. See Build a course from your Content Library.
Set the price
Set the price new students will pay. See Sell a course on its own.
Import your students
In Audience → People, import your CSV. Use the template columns FirstName, LastName and Email (all required) and PhoneNumber (optional). Add a tag such as "Migrated course" so you can find them later. They arrive as leads. See People and Forms.
Create a 100%-off code
Go to Business → Pricing → Promotions and create a promotion, such as WELCOMEBACK:
- Add Offering Type → Course → Specify Offerings → your course.
- Percentage off:
100. - Limit total uses: your number of students. Limit uses per user:
1. - An expiry date a few weeks out, so the code doesn't stay open forever.
Publish the course and its lessons
Make sure every lesson shows Published, then click Publish course.
Invite your students
Email your students from your old platform, or send an announcement, with the course link and the code: "Click Enroll, enter WELCOMEBACK at checkout and click Apply. Your total will be $0."
Check who's moved over
Watch the course's Enrollments tab. Their enrollments show Active and Promotion Used shows your code.
Tips
- Bring them into your membership too. If your students also had an ongoing membership, add your portal membership to the same code (or create a second one) with a duration that applies forever, so they never pay twice.
- Keep both platforms open briefly. Leave the old course up until most students have moved.
- Your list is yours. Soul never sells your or your members' data.
Students can't be enrolled for them. There's no way to add someone to a course by hand, so each student needs to open the link and enroll with the code. The code only appears at checkout, which means the course needs a price above $0.
Good to know
- Students need a Soul account. They create one when they enroll, using the same email you imported.
- Progress from the old platform doesn't carry over. Students start the course fresh.
- Anyone who has the code can use it until it runs out or expires, so share it only with your students and keep the use limit tight.
What your members see
Your course page with its usual price. They click Enroll for $…, enter the code, see a Total of $0, and go straight into the course.
