Combine a self-paced course with live group calls and a chat space so a group moves through it together.

A cohort course on Soul is three offerings working together: the Course for the lessons, Events for the live calls, and a Chat Space for conversation between calls.

The Cohort-Based, Hybrid and Live learning paces are marked Coming Soon, and a chat space can't be built into a course yet. The setup below uses what's available today.

When to use this

  • A group program with a start date, like an 8-week training.
  • A course where live Q&A or practice calls matter as much as the lessons.
  • You want participants to support each other between sessions.

Steps

Build the course

Create the course with Self-Paced pace and add your modules and lessons. See Build and publish a self-paced course. Set the price here: this is what people buy.

Schedule the live calls

Create an event for the calls, for example a repeating weekly event. Give it a free ticket and make it Unlisted, so only people with the link (your cohort) can find it.

Create a chat space

Create a chat space for the cohort, such as "Spring 2026 Cohort". Set it to Unlisted so only people with the link can find it.

Link everything from the course

Copy the event link and the chat space link. Add them to the course description and to a Page lesson at the start of module 1, such as "Start here: your calls and community".

Pace the lessons (optional)

To keep everyone together, publish one module a week. See Release lessons over time.

Welcome each person automatically

On the course's Automation tab, add a Send Email rule with the call schedule and chat space link. See Send a welcome email when someone enrolls.

Publish and open enrollment

Publish the course, then share its link. Close enrollment later by moving the course back to Draft, but only once the cohort has finished, because that hides it from enrolled members too.

Tips

  • Put the links where people look. The first lesson of module 1 is where people land after Start Learning.
  • Add a companion path. A Private Path on fixed dates can send reminders before each call.
  • Message the group. Send an announcement to your course's enrollees for schedule changes.
  • Running it again? Create a new chat space and new events for the next cohort. You can reuse the same course.

Buying the course doesn't register anyone for the events or add them to the chat space. Each one is separate, so your welcome email and first lesson need to send people to both.

What your members see

The course as usual, with links in the description and first lesson to the live calls and the group chat. They register for the calls and join the chat space themselves.
