Courses
Send a welcome email when someone enrolls
Automatically email new students, or send them a form, the moment they enroll in a course.
A course automation runs every time someone successfully enrolls: free enrollments straight away, paid ones once the payment goes through.
When to use this
- Welcome new students and tell them how to get started.
- Share links the course doesn't hold: your chat space, live call schedule or a bonus download.
- Send an intake form so you know who's joining and what they hope to get from it.
Steps
Open the Automation tab
Go to Offerings → Courses, open the course, and click the Automation tab: "Automate actions after someone successfully enrolls in this course."
Create a rule
Click Create Rule. Under Trigger & Action, the trigger is Course enrollment succeeded. Choose an action:
- Send Email: an email to the new student.
- Ask to Fill Out Form: emails them a link to one of your forms.
Optionally click Add Condition to run it only in some cases. Click Continue.
Write the email
Under Configuration, add the subject and click Compose Email Content to write the body. The recipient is already set to the new student's email, so leave it as it is (or change it to your own address to get a notification instead). You can include images and links. Use placeholders, such as the member's name, to personalize it.
For Ask to Fill Out Form, pick the form and add an optional subject and message.
Test it
Click Test Action to send yourself a sample with example values, then Run Action.
Name and save
Click Continue to Review. Give the automation a Name, such as "Welcome to Breathwork Basics", check Enable this automation and click Save. Choose Save as Draft to finish it later.
The rule appears in the list as Active or Inactive. Use its menu to Edit, Disable / Enable or Delete it.
What to put in a welcome email
- A warm thank-you, in your own voice.
- How to start: "Open the course and click Start Learning." Include the course link.
- Anything that lives outside the course: your chat space, live calls, a companion path.
- How to reach you with questions.
Good to know
- Only for this course. Each course has its own rules. Create one per course.
- Only new enrollments. Rules don't go back and email people who enrolled before you created them. To reach them, send an announcement to the course's enrollees.
- One email per rule. For a sequence over several days, pair the course with a Private Path.
- Unpaid checkouts don't count. The rule runs only when an enrollment succeeds.
What your members see
An email from you arriving right after they enroll, or a link to fill out your form.
