Go from a blank course to a live one that members can enroll in and work through at their own pace.

You'll end up with a published course on your portal, organized into modules and lessons, that people can enroll in and complete whenever suits them.

When to use this

  • You have a program, method or teaching you want people to learn step by step.
  • You've recorded videos or written material and want it in a guided order.
  • You want something people can buy (or join for free) any time, without you being live.

Steps

Start a new course

Go to Offerings → Courses and click New Course (or Create Your First Course if this is your first).

Course Basics

Enter a Course Title, such as "Introduction to Mindfulness", and a Course Description: who it's for, what they'll learn, and how it's structured. Both are required. Click Next.

Pricing Model

The Regular Price starts at $0, which makes the course free. Enter an amount to charge for it. Click Add subscriber price if your members should pay less, or nothing. You can change prices any time. Click Next.

Course Visibility

Choose Public so anyone can find and enroll, or Private so only your active subscribers can enroll. Click Next.

Learning Pace

Keep Self-Paced. The other options are marked Coming Soon. Click Create Course.

The course is created as a Draft and opens on its own page.

Add a cover image

Click ⋯ → Edit details, add a 16:9 Cover Image, and click Save Changes. This is the picture on your course card and page.

Create your modules

Open the Content builder tab and click Create New Module. Give it a Title, such as "Foundations", and a short Description, then click Create Module. Repeat for each chapter. Drag the handles to reorder them.

Already have the material in a Content Library collection? Use Import from Collection instead. See Build a course from your Content Library.

Add lessons

Click a module, then New Lesson. Pick Video Lesson, Page or Quiz, enter a Lesson Title, and click Continue or Create Lesson.

  • Video Lesson: Upload a file, paste a link From URL or Google Drive, or choose from your Library. Check the Duration and click Save Changes.
  • Page: click Add Block and add Text Block, Image Block or Video Block sections. Click Save Changes.
  • Quiz: see Add a quiz.

Use Add Attachment on a lesson to include a worksheet, PDF or audio file.

Publish each lesson

When a lesson is ready, click Publish Lesson (or Save & Publish Lesson). New lessons are drafts, and members only see published ones.

Check it over

On the Course details tab, check the module list, the Lessons count and the price under Course settings. In the Content builder, every lesson members should see needs the Published pill.

Publish the course

Click Publish course at the top of the page. The status pill changes to published, and Share Course becomes available.

Share it

Click Share Course to copy the link or share it to social media. Open the link yourself to see the course the way members do. Make sure the Courses section is turned on in your portal design (My Portal → Design) so people can find it there too.

Tips

  • Write the description for the buyer. Say who it's for, what changes for them, how many modules and roughly how long it takes. This is your sales page.
  • Keep lessons short. Several 5–15 minute lessons are easier to finish than one long one, and members get the satisfaction of ticking them off.
  • Start with a welcome lesson. Explain how the course works, how to mark lessons complete, and where to ask questions.
  • Let Soul AI scaffold it. Ask Soul AI to "create a 5-module course on grief support with 3 lessons each". It builds the empty structure for you to fill in.
  • Add a companion path. Pair the course with a Private Path for reflection prompts between lessons.

Publishing the course doesn't publish its lessons. If a module shows no lessons to members, open each lesson and click Publish Lesson. A lesson can't be published while it's empty.

Uploading a large video? Keep the tab open until it finishes. Chrome is the most reliable browser for big files.

What your members see

A course card in the Courses section of your portal. The course page shows your cover, description, the number of modules and lessons, and the price. After they enroll they click Start Learning, move through the lessons with Mark Complete and Next, and see their progress per module.
