Run an early-bird price, a time-limited sale, or a code-only discount on a course.

There are two ways to discount a course. A discount on the price applies to everyone automatically. A Promo Code only applies to people who type it at checkout.

When to use this

  • An early-bird price for the first week of a launch.
  • A sale for a holiday or anniversary.
  • A private code for a podcast audience, a partner, or past clients.

Add a discount to the price

Open the course pricing

Open the course. On the Course details tab, under Course settings, click Edit next to Price.

Add the discount

Under the price you want to discount (Regular Price or Subscriber Price), click Add discount.

Choose the amount

Pick $ Fixed or % Percent and enter the Amount off ($) or Percent off (%).

Set an end date

Turn on Expires, click Pick Expiration Date, and choose a Time. You'll see "Discount expires: …". Leave Expires off for a discount that runs until you remove it.

Apply and save

Click Apply, then Save Changes. The tier shows "Promo configured: 20% off (expires …)".

To end it early, open Edit again and click Remove Discount.

Create a promo code

Go to promotions

Go to Business → Pricing and open the Promotions tab.

Create the code

Create a promotion. Enter a Code using uppercase letters and numbers, such as LAUNCH30, and a Description.

Choose the course

Click Add Offering Type, choose Course, then Specify Offerings and pick the course. Skip Specify Offerings to cover all your courses.

Set the discount and limits

Choose Percentage off or Fixed amount off. Optionally tick Limit total uses (for example 20 early-bird places), Limit uses per user, and set an expiry date.

Share the code

Tell people to enter it at checkout: "Click Enroll, then enter LAUNCH30 in the promo code box and click Apply."

Tips

  • Give a deadline. An expiry date ("ends Sunday at midnight") gives people a reason to act now.
  • Test before you share. Open the course as a member would and try the code, so you know the total looks right.
  • Variable pricing isn't available for courses, so discounts always work from a fixed price.

Promo codes only show up when there's something to pay. On a free course, or for members whose price is $0, there's no checkout and no code box.

What your members see

With a price discount, the course page shows the reduced price. With a promo code, they click Enroll for $…, type the code in Enter promo code, click Apply and see the new Total before Proceed to Payment. A wrong code shows "Invalid or expired promo code".
