Charge for access to a chat space

Sell access to a chat room for a one-time price or a monthly or yearly subscription.

When to use this

  • You want to sell an inner circle, mastermind or premium room on its own, separate from your membership.
  • You run a program where the chat itself is the product (accountability group, ongoing mentoring).
  • You want a second tier above your membership.

Steps

Connect Stripe

Payments go through Stripe. If you haven't connected it, see Stripe and payouts.

Create the chat space

Go to Offerings → Chat Spaces and click Create Chat Space. Add a Title, Description and Cover Image. A paid room deserves a clear promise: who it's for, what you'll do there and how often you show up.

Choose who can see it

Under Visibility, pick Public to sell to anyone, Private to sell only to your subscribers, or Unlisted to sell only to people you send the link to.

Set the price

Under Pricing, choose Paid. Enter the Price (USD). The minimum is $0.50.

Choose the billing cycle

Under Billing Cycle, choose One-time payment (pay once, stay forever), Monthly subscription or Yearly subscription. "Members will be charged based on the selected billing cycle."

Check, then create

Read the price and cycle again. Then click Create Chat Space.

Prepare the room before you sell

Post a welcome and Pin it, so the first buyer walks into a room that's ready for them. Then share the link or add it to your portal.

Price and billing are locked once the space is created. In Edit you'll see "Pricing type cannot be changed for now" and "Price changes are not available right now." You can't switch between free and paid either. Double-check before you click Create Chat Space, and contact support@bringsoul.life if you need a change.

Good to know

  • Promo codes can't be applied to chat spaces.
  • A Private + Paid space charges subscribers on top of their membership. If you want the chat included in the membership, use a subscribers-only chat instead.
  • Someone who opens the checkout but doesn't finish appears in Members with the status unpaid. They can't read or post until they pay.
  • Refunding a chat space member from the members panel isn't available yet (it shows Refund (Coming Soon)). Email support@bringsoul.life if you need to refund someone. See also Refunds.
  • Removing a member from Members stops their access to the room. It doesn't refund them.

What your members see

The card shows the price, and the room shows "Join this chat space for $X to start conversations with other members." with a Join for $X button. They pay in a checkout window without leaving the page. While Soul confirms the payment they see "Processing Payment...", then they're in. If they leave the checkout before paying, they come back to Complete Payment - $X.

Once they're in, the space is listed under Chat spaces in their Messages.
