Track equipment and extras, from a single sauna to a pool of 12 mats, and choose whether each one is required, optional, assigned by Soul or picked by the client.

Beta. Resources is marked BETA in the dashboard menu and may change.

Add-ons are equipment or extras a session uses: a massage table, a sauna, towels, a sound bowl set, yoga mats. Unlike staff and rooms, an add-on has a Capacity, so one add-on can stand for a pool of identical items. Soul keeps count, so you never promise a 13th mat when you own 12.

When to use this

  • Sessions need equipment you only have a few of (6 massage tables shared by 8 practitioners).
  • Group sessions need one item per person (a mat for each attendee).
  • Clients can ask for extras, like a heated blanket or aromatherapy, while booking.

Add-ons have no price. They only affect availability and what's reserved. To charge for an upgrade, create a separate session type (for example Massage + hot stones).

Add an add-on

Turn add-ons on

In Business → Resources, click Enable Room & Addon (or Enable Addon) in the banner.

Click Add Add-on

Select Add-ons in the left rail and click Add Add-on.

Fill in the details

Enter a Name (Yoga mats), an optional Description, and a Capacity: "Use 1 for exclusive resources, higher for pooled (mats/equipment)".

Create

Leave Active on and click Create.

How capacity works

Capacity is how many bookings can use the add-on at the same moment.

CapacityMeansExample
1Exclusive. One booking at a time. The sauna, the only hot-stone kit
MoreA pool. Bookings draw units until the pool is used up.12 yoga mats, 6 massage tables

Units come back when the booking ends. On the add-on's Allocations tab, Peak load shows the most units in use at once on a day (for example Peak load 9/12).

When every unit is in use, the add-on also stays unavailable for your Booking Buffer Time afterwards.

Attach add-ons to a session type

Add-ons work for in-person sessions only. The Add-ons row appears once In Person is on.

Open Manage Add-ons

Open the session type in Offerings → 1:1 Sessions. In the Add-ons row, click + (or … → Manage Add-ons).

Add them

Click Add Add-on, select the add-ons, and click Add. Each one gets its own card.

Set each card

Use the three switches on each card, described below.

Unlike staff and rooms, every add-on is reserved separately: a session with Towels and Mats reserves both, not one or the other.

The three switches

SwitchOnOff
Required"Blocks new bookings when at full capacity." No unit free, no time. The booking goes ahead even if none are left.
Auto-assignSoul reserves it for the client"Off = customer picks at booking"
Per attendeeOne unit per seat booked"Off = shared across the whole group": one unit for the whole slot

The first add-on you attach starts with Required off, Auto-assign on and Per attendee on. Further add-ons start with the same Required and Auto-assign settings as the first.

What the combinations mean

RequiredAuto-assignResult
OnOnAlways reserved. Times disappear when the add-on is fully used. Use for things the session can't run without.
OnOffThe client chooses one option while booking. The first option is selected for them until they pick another.
OffOnReserved if a unit is free. If none are left, the booking still goes ahead without it.
OffOffAn optional extra the client can choose, or leave on None.

Group sessions and add-ons

With Per attendee on, a booking for 3 seats uses 3 units. Make sure a full group fits in the pool.

If a group session allows more people than a required per-attendee add-on can serve, the session page warns you: "Session capacity exceeds a required add-on" ("Max capacity is set to 8, but a required add-on only supports 6. Bookings with more than 6 seats will not show availability."). Fix it one of three ways:

  • Raise the add-on's Capacity (pencil on the Add-ons table, or Edit on its page).
  • Lower the session's Max attendees.
  • Switch off Per attendee, if one item really serves everyone (a speaker, a projector).

Good to know

  • Online bookings skip add-ons. Clients who choose Online in a hybrid session don't see or use add-ons.
  • One pool, many sessions. If two session types use the same 12 mats, they share the 12.
  • Change capacity any time. A bigger pool opens up times straight away. A smaller one doesn't cancel bookings that already have units.
  • Add a missing add-on by hand. If an optional add-on wasn't reserved, open the booking and use Assign in its Assigned Resource section. See Manage allocations on bookings.

What your clients see

Required, auto-assigned add-ons are invisible while booking. Add-ons the client picks show above the calendar on the session page, under the category's name, with None as a choice when the add-on is optional. They're only offered for in-person bookings. After booking, their booking page lists the add-ons reserved for them.
