AutoDM
Target specific Instagram posts
Limit an AutoDM comment campaign to the posts you choose, so each post can send its own offer.
By default a comment campaign watches every post on your account. Pick posts under Applies to and it only answers comments on those.
When to use this
- Each Reel promotes something different and should send a different link.
- You want to reuse a keyword like guide for two different guides on two different posts.
- You only want AutoDM on your launch post, not on everything.
Open the trigger
Open the campaign on Audience → AutoDM. In the Setup tab, click the pencil on Trigger. Make sure Trigger source is Comments on a post.
Select posts
Under Applies to, click Select posts (Edit posts if some are chosen). Your recent posts, Reels and carousels appear with their caption, date and comment count. Click Load More for older ones.
Pick and confirm
Click the posts you want. The footer shows how many are selected. Click Done.
Save
Click Save changes. The Trigger now shows the posts' images and captions under Applies to.
To widen the campaign back to every post, remove each post with its × and save. With nothing selected, Applies to shows All posts.
One campaign per post
Two active campaigns can't answer the same comment. A post another active campaign already targets is marked "“[campaign]” already targets this post" and Save changes is blocked until you remove it: "Another active campaign already targets one of these posts. Two active campaigns cannot answer the same comment." Remove the post, or pause the other campaign.
Campaigns on All posts don't block others from targeting a post. But a keyword shared between an All posts campaign and any other comment campaign does clash.
Keywords and posts together
| Campaign A | Campaign B | Same keyword allowed? |
|---|---|---|
| Post 1 | Post 2 | Yes |
| Post 1 | Post 1 | No (same post) |
| All posts | Post 2 | No |
| All posts | All posts | No |
This applies to active campaigns that listen to comments. Paused campaigns don't count.
Tips
- Set the post up first. Publish on Instagram, then select it in Soul before you announce the keyword.
- A post deleted on Instagram shows as Unavailable post. Remove it with × to tidy up. A very old post can also show this when Soul can't load its details, but it still works.
- If posts don't load and Soul says your Instagram authorization has lapsed, reconnect. See Connect Instagram.
