Payouts & Transactions
How payouts work
Follow a payment from checkout to your bank: settlement, fees, pending payouts and your Stripe payout schedule.
Every paid booking, ticket, course or membership payment on Soul follows the same path to your bank. Knowing the steps tells you where a payment is and what, if anything, is holding it.
When to use this
- A member paid and you want to know when you'll see the money.
- Something shows Pending payout and you want to know why.
- Your Stripe balance and your Soul numbers don't line up.
The four stages
| Stage | Where you see it | What's happening |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Paid | Transactions tab, status Completed | The member's card was charged. |
| 2. Settling | On the payment, Net amount shows "Pending Settlement". In View breakdown, it counts toward Pending. | Stripe is still settling the charge, so the final fee isn't known. You can't refund it yet. |
| 3. Sent to your Stripe | The payment has a Net amount and Stripe processing fees. It isn't listed under Pending Payouts. | Soul has sent your net amount to your Stripe account. |
| 4. Paid out to your bank | Next payout under Payout Settings, and your Stripe dashboard | Stripe pays your balance out to your bank on your payout schedule. Banks usually take 1–2 business days after that. |
If your Stripe account can't receive money yet at stage 3, the net amount waits as a Pending Payout instead.
Pending Payouts
Open Business → Payouts & Transactions → Payouts. Pending Payouts lists money that's waiting to be sent to your Stripe account, with the Subscriber, Offering and Payout Amount for each.
Money waits here until three things are true, as the page says: "once you have completed your payout setup, our team has reviewed your account, and the funds have been completely settled." A payment page also shows a Pending payout badge and the amount waiting.
Check your payout setup
Under Payout Settings on the Payouts tab, if you see "Please provide your bank details to complete your payout setup.", click Add Payout Method and finish in Stripe.
Give it a few days
New payments need to settle before they can move. Once your setup is complete and reviewed, pending payouts are sent to your Stripe account.
Still waiting?
If your setup is complete and payouts stay pending, email support@bringsoul.life with your portal name.
Your Stripe payout schedule
When Stripe pays your balance to your bank is set in Stripe, not Soul. Payout Settings on the Payouts tab shows your current schedule (for example Weekly on Friday), how long each payment is held before it can be paid out, and the next payout Stripe has created with its amount and arrival date. Click Manage your payout under Payout Settings to open your Stripe dashboard, where you can change your bank account and payout schedule.
If Stripe holds payouts until your balance reaches a minimum, lower that minimum to $0 for daily payouts.
Fees
- You keep your earnings, minus Stripe's card processing fee on each payment.
- Each payment's fee is shown on its page as Stripe processing fees, once it has settled. Before that, the fee isn't final.
- The Stripe Fee (settled) line in View breakdown adds up fees for settled payments in the period you picked.
- Refunds come out of your earnings. By default you can refund up to the net amount; refunding the fee as well is your choice. See Refund a member.
What refunds do to payouts
- Refund a payment that's still a Pending Payout, and the pending amount goes down (or disappears).
- Refund a payment that's already been sent to your Stripe account, and the money comes back out of your Stripe balance. If the balance can't cover it, Soul asks you to top up by card first. See Refund errors and top-ups.
Good to know
- Your Stripe balance can be lower than your Soul earnings for a while: payments that are still settling or pending payout haven't reached Stripe yet.
- Soul shows dates in your portal's timezone; Stripe may use a different one. A payment just before midnight can land on different days in each.
- A payment that's under dispute with the member's bank can't be refunded from Soul. Respond to the dispute in Stripe.
