# Messages, chat and activity

> Your inbox, chat spaces, notifications and calendar sync.

## Messages

[Messages](https://bringsoul.life/inbox) holds your conversations on Soul. Open it from Messages in the menu on the left, or from Chats in the bar at the bottom of your phone. It has two lists: Direct messages, for one-to-one conversations with a Luminary, and Chat spaces, for the group chats you've joined. A number on Messages or Chats shows how many messages you haven't read.

- To message a Luminary, use the message button on their portal. It only appears if the Luminary has added one, and only once you subscribe to their membership. Anyone can click Contact under the Luminary's name to send them an email instead.
- Members can't start direct messages with each other. A Luminary can introduce you.
- To join a chat space, open Chat Spaces on the Luminary's portal. A paid chat space shows _"Join to participate"_ with the price, and a chat space for subscribers shows Become a Subscriber.
- In a chat space you can attach files, search the conversation, see pinned messages, and open the member list. To leave, open the member list, click Leave chat space…, then Leave.
- To edit or delete your own message, open the chat space from the Luminary's portal.

If you haven't joined any chat spaces yet, Messages suggests some under Chat Spaces To Explore.

## Activity

[Activity](https://bringsoul.life/activity) has three tabs:

- For you: what's coming up, the courses and paths you're working through, and the portals you belong to.
- Community Updates: announcements and activity from the communities you've joined. Click Mark all read to clear the unread count.
- Calendar: everything you've booked or registered for, with suggestions from Soul on other days.

## Sync your calendar

On the Calendar tab of Activity, click Sync to Google Calendar (on a phone, the calendar icon). In _"Add Soul to your calendar"_, choose Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook, or click Copy link to add it to another calendar app. Your bookings stay up to date there on their own.
