# Add links and header buttons

> Point visitors at your booking page, newsletter, membership or anything else, using link cards and header buttons.

Replace your old link-in-bio page with link cards and up to two buttons in your portal header.

## When to use this

- You want visitors to reach something outside Soul: your website, podcast or newsletter.
- You want a big button for one thing, such as _Join Membership_ or _Book a call_.
- You want to put a form on your portal. Forms aren't a section, so add them as a link.

## Add a link card

**Step 1: Turn on Links**

Go to [My Portal → Design](https://portal.bringsoul.life/portal) → Sections and switch on Links.

**Step 2: Open the manager**

Click Manage links, or click Add your first link in the preview.

**Step 3: Choose the kind of link**

Click Add a link, then choose:

- A web address: *"Anywhere off your portal — a site, a social profile, an email."*
- Something in your portal: *"A collection, a piece of content, a session type or a form."* Pick it from the Content Library, Session Types or Form/Funnels tab.

**Step 4: Fill in the card**

- Name (up to 60 characters), for example *Book a discovery call*.
- Address, for a web address. `https://` is added for you.
- Button text. Leave it empty and the button says *Open*.
- Note: one optional line under the name.
- Image: an optional square picture.

**Step 5: Save**

Click Add link. Links save straight away. Drag the handle to reorder them.

To change or remove a link, hover it in the manager and use the edit or remove icon.

## Add header buttons

Header buttons sit under your bio, at the very top of your portal.

**Step 1: Open header buttons**

In the preview, click Add header buttons (or the pencil, Edit header buttons).

**Step 2: Add a button**

Click Add a button and choose What it does:

| Choice | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Get updates | Opens one of your lead forms, without leaving the portal. Choose it under Which form. |
| Message | Opens a conversation with you. Only members see this button. |
| Join membership | Takes visitors to your pricing page. |
| Custom link | Goes to any address you enter. |

**Step 3: Write the label**

Enter the Button text, up to 40 characters.

**Step 4: Choose the main button**

Turn on Make this the filled button for the one you most want clicked. Only one button can be filled.

## Good to know

- A header holds two buttons at most. Each kind can be used once, except Custom link.
- Get updates needs a lead form. If you see _"You have no lead forms yet."_, click Create one first. See [People and forms](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/forms).
- A highlight shows an item's own card; a link card lets you write your own title, note and image.
- Point Join membership links straight at checkout: `https://bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle>/pricing`.

**Tip:** 
Open each link in a private browser window before you share your portal, to check it lands where
you expect.

## What your visitors see

Your header buttons right under your bio, and your link cards in the Links block near the top of your portal. Links to things inside your portal show an _In your portal_ badge in your manager, and open without leaving Soul.
