# Send a path by email

> Deliver a path's messages by email, or by text and email together, using a Scheduled path.

## When to use this

- Your audience prefers email, or many of them haven't turned on text messages.
- Your messages are longer or need formatting, links or images.
- You want both: a short text nudge and the same message in their inbox.

**Note:** 
Choosing a channel is only available on Scheduled paths. Self-Paced paths send by text, and fall
back to email for anyone without text messages turned on.

## Build it

**Step 1: Create a Scheduled path**

Go to [Offerings → Paths](https://portal.bringsoul.life/paths), click Create Path (or Add Path),
and pick Scheduled Path. Add a Cover Image, Path Name and Description, then click Create path.

**Step 2: Add a message and pick Email**

On the Schedule tab, click Add Schedule. Set the Date and Time, and under Channel choose Email
(*"Subscribers receive an email only."*).

**Step 3: Write the email**

Use the Email body (rich text) editor for the English version. Add a Spanish email body if you
like; leave it blank to fall back to English. Click Add Schedule.

**Step 4: Repeat for each message**

Set Email on every message you want emailed. Each message has its own channel, so you can mix:
an Email for the long weekly reflection and Text for short daily nudges.

**Step 5: Publish**

Click Publish and invite people to join.

## Text + Email

Choose Text + Email to send both (_"Subscribers receive both a text message and an email."_). You write one plain message, and it goes out by text and by email. Members without text messages turned on get the email only.

## Good to know

- See how your emails did. Ask [Soul AI](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/soul-ai) for your path's email results: deliveries, opens, clicks and unsubscribes, for the whole path or a single message. Text messages don't report opens, and early messages have had longer to collect opens than recent ones.
- Filter by channel. The schedule list has a channel filter (All channels, Text, Email, Text + Email) to check your mix.
- Members still choose how Soul contacts them. If someone's preferred contact method needs a phone number and they haven't added one, Soul asks them to add it before they can join any path.

## What your members see

The path page and join button are the same as any path. Once they join, your messages arrive as emails on the dates and times you set, in their own time zone.
