# Get members to join your path

> Joining a path is a separate step from joining your membership. Here's how to make sure people actually start.

## When to use this

- You've published a path and want people on it.
- Members have signed up to your portal but aren't receiving your prompts.
- You want to move a group, such as a course cohort, onto a path yourself.

**Note:** 
Joining your portal doesn't put anyone on a path. Paths have their own Try This Path step. Unless
you use Auto-subscribe or add people yourself, members need a nudge to join.

## Option 1: Show it on your portal

**Step 1: Publish the path**

On the path's page, click Publish.
**Step 2: Turn on the Soul Paths section**

Go to [My Portal → Design](https://portal.bringsoul.life/portal) and switch on Soul Paths. Drag
it higher if paths are central to what you offer.

## Option 2: Share the link

**Step 1: Copy the link**

Open the path and click ⋯ at the top, then Copy link. You can also use Share to X, Share to Facebook, Share to LinkedIn or Share via device. On [Offerings → Paths](https://portal.bringsoul.life/paths), published paths also have a quick share button on their card.

**Step 2: Send it where your people are**

Put the link (`https://bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle>/paths/<path-id>`) in your welcome email, an [announcement](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/announcements), a course lesson, an event description or your social posts.

Visitors who aren't in your audience yet sign up from the path page (_"Join &lt;path name&gt;"_) and are enrolled right after.

## Option 3: Enroll new sign-ups automatically

On the path's Schedule tab, switch on Auto-subscribe under New subscribers. Everyone who signs up to your portal from then on is enrolled, unless they're already on another path. ## Option 4: Add people yourself

**Step 1: Open Add subscribers**

On the path's Subscribers tab, click Add Subscriber.
**Step 2: Pick people**

Search your audience and tick the people to add. Anyone already on this path shows *"Already on
this path"*.

**Step 3: Decide about other paths**

People already on another path can't be added unless you tick Force switch (*"move selected
people off any other path of mine they're currently on"*). You can only move people off your own
paths, not another Luminary's.

**Step 4: Add them**

Click Add N subscribers. On a Self-Paced path, *"They'll receive prompts starting day 1 of this
path."* On a Scheduled path, *"They'll receive prompts scheduled after today."*

## Good to know

- Only people in your audience can join. Visitors can see a published path, but must sign up to your portal first. Signed-in people who aren't in your audience see Subscribe to Access.
- One path at a time. A member on another path, yours or someone else's, sees Switch to This Path and a warning that the other path will pause.
- Phone numbers. If a member's preferred contact method needs a phone number they haven't added, Soul asks them to add one in their settings before they can join.
- People who left can be re-added. Left and Removed subscribers can be added again with Add Subscriber.
- Tell people what to expect. Say how many days it runs, what time messages arrive, and that they come by text.

## What your members see

The path page with its cover, description, status line (_"Starts when you join."_ or _"Next message: …"_) and the Try This Path button. After joining, a confirmation that they're enrolled, and their first message at the scheduled time.
