# Change or retire a pass

> Edit a pass's details, price, duration or offerings, and understand what changes for people who already hold it.

You can change almost everything about a pass after it's live. Some changes reach current holders straight away and some only apply to new buyers. Here's which is which.

## When to use this

- Rename a pass, or update its description or cover.
- Change the price or the duration.
- Add or remove sessions and events.
- Stop selling a pass.

## Steps

**Step 1: Edit the name, description or duration**

Open the pass, click ⋯ → Edit. Update Name, Description or Duration (days, hrs, min) and click
Save. To change the cover, click the cover image and upload a new one.

**Step 2: Change the pass price**

In the Pricing card, edit the Regular Price and click Save Changes. Use Add discount / Edit
discount for a temporary reduction, and Remove Discount to end it.

**Step 3: Add offerings**

Click Attach Offering, pick items, set prices and click Done. If anyone already holds the pass,
you'll be asked Add offerings to this pass? Click Confirm & Save.

**Step 4: Change an offering's pass price**

Remove the offering (step 5), then attach it again with the new price. Items that are already
attached don't appear in the attach list.

**Step 5: Remove an offering**

In the Offerings card, click the remove icon on the row. If the pass has holders, confirm Remove
offering? with Remove.

**Step 6: Delete the pass**

⋯ → Delete. Confirm in Delete pass: *"This will remove all associated grants and cannot be
undone."*

## Who is affected by each change

| Change                   | Current holders                         | New buyers           |

| Pass price               | Not affected (they've already bought)   | Pay the new price    |
| Add an offering          | Get it straight away                    | Yes                  |
| Remove an offering       | Lose the pass price on it straight away | Yes                  |
| Delete the pass          | Lose all pass prices                    | Can no longer buy it |

**Warning:** 
Removing an offering or deleting a pass takes pass prices away from people who already paid. Tell
your holders first. Consider letting the pass run out instead: stop promoting it and turn off the
Passes section on your portal if it's the only one.

## Tips

- To stop sales but honor existing holders, don't delete the pass. Remove the link from your promotions and wait until the last holder expires (check Manage Users).

## What your members see

New details and prices show up on the pass page right away. If you remove an offering, it disappears from _"Pass holders get access to:"_ and the regular price shows on that session or event.
