You'll end up with the right tickets on your event: who can register, what they pay, and how many seats each type has. ## When to use this - You want to charge for an event, or offer a pay-what-you-can range. - You want more than one way in: a standard ticket plus VIP, early bird, or a members-only ticket. - You want a free event that still needs registration. ## Steps **Step 1: Open the Tickets tab** Go to [Offerings → Events](https://portal.bringsoul.life/events), open the event, and click Tickets. Every event starts with one free ticket called Regular. **Step 2: Edit or add a ticket** Click the existing ticket to edit it, or click Add Ticket for a new type. **Step 3: Name and describe it** Enter a Ticket Name (for example *"General Admission"*, *"VIP"*, *"Early Bird"*) and an optional Description of what's included. Names must be unique within an event. **Step 4: Set the seats** Enter a Capacity for this ticket, or leave it empty for unlimited. **Step 5: Choose who can register** Under Ticket Visibility, pick Public (Available to everyone) or Subscriber Only (only your paying members). **Step 6: Set the price** Under Ticket Pricing, switch from Free to Paid, then either: - enter a Price, or - turn on Variable pricing and set a Minimum Price and Maximum Price. Attendees choose what to pay within the range. **Step 7: For repeating events, set the join policy and pricing model** Pick a Join Policy and a Pricing Model (Flat Rate or Per Occurrence). Drag tickets in the list to set the order members see them. ## Recipes | You want… | Set up | | ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | A free event with sign-up | Keep the Regular ticket at Free. | | A simple paid event | Set Regular to Paid with a Price. | | Sliding scale / pay what you can | Paid with Variable pricing, for example $15 to $60. Explain the range in the description. | | VIP | A second ticket named _"VIP"_ with a higher price, a small Capacity, and the extras in its Description. | | Early bird (limited number) | A ticket named _"Early Bird"_ at the lower price with a Capacity of, say, 10. When those seats go, it shows Sold out and people buy the regular ticket. | | Early bird (until a date) | A [discount code](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/offerings/events/offer-a-discount-code) with an expiry date. Tickets don't change price on a date by themselves. | | Members-only | A ticket with Subscriber Only visibility. Non-members see a Members tag and Start a Membership. | | Cheaper for members | Two tickets: a Public one at full price and a Subscriber Only one at the member price. | | Free for members, paid for everyone else | A Subscriber Only ticket at Free, plus a Public paid ticket. | ## Messages you might see | Message | Fix | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- | | _"A ticket with this name already exists"_ | Give each ticket a unique name. | | _"Maximum price must be greater than or equal to minimum price"_ | Check your Variable pricing range. | | _"Minimum price is required for variable pricing"_ | Fill in both ends of the range. | | _"Capacity must be a positive number"_ | Enter 1 or more, or leave it empty for unlimited. | | _"Only flat pricing is allowed for forever events with all/future access for now."_ | Give the series an end, or use Flexible Access. | ## Tips - Free still needs a ticket. If people should register, keep at least one ticket, even at $0. - Ticket capacity and event capacity work together. The number of people who can register is the smaller of the event's Attendance Limit and the total of your ticket capacities. Under the tickets, Refunds for this event shows your portal's [refund policy](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/business/refunds). Click it to override it for this event. - Paid tickets need Stripe. Connect Stripe before selling. See [Stripe and payouts](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/business/stripe-and-payouts). ## What your members see The Registration card lists each ticket with its name, price and description, and a Members tag on a Subscriber Only ticket. A ticket that can't be bought shows Sold out or Sales ended. When five or fewer seats are left, the event page says how many (_"3 left"_). The button matches the ticket: Register for a free ticket, Get Ticket for a paid one, or Start a Membership for a members' ticket the person can't use yet (_"This ticket is for members. Start a membership to open it."_).
