# Host a repeating class or circle

> Run a weekly class, a monthly circle or any series on a regular pattern, and decide how people join and pay.

You'll end up with one event that repeats on a schedule. Members register once and either get the whole series or pick the dates they want, depending on the ticket you give them.

## When to use this

- A weekly yoga or meditation class.
- A monthly new-moon circle on the first Sunday.
- A six-week program that meets every Thursday.

If each gathering is different (a new topic, a new venue, a different price), separate one-off events are usually cleaner.

## Steps

**Step 1: Create the event for the first date**

Go to [Offerings → Events](https://portal.bringsoul.life/events) → Create Event. Fill in the title, description and format as for any event. Set Start and End to the first session and choose the Event Timezone.

**Step 2: Turn on Repeat this event**

Under the date, switch on Repeat this event.

**Step 3: Set the pattern**

In Repeat every, choose a number and days, weeks, months or years.
- Weekly: under Repeat on, pick the weekdays (Mon to Sun). Pick more than one for a class that meets twice a week.
- Monthly: choose Same day as start date, Specific day(s) of the month, or Weekday of nth week, such as the first Sunday or the last Friday (Last week).

The summary under the switch updates as you go, for example *"…, 8 times"*.

**Step 4: Choose when it ends**

Under Ends, pick On specific dates and choose the last day, or After number of occurrences and enter how many. Never is available, but see the warning below.

**Step 5: Save and publish**

Click Create & Publish Event or Save as Draft. You land on the Tickets tab.

**Step 6: Choose how people join**

Edit the Regular ticket (or Add Ticket). Repeating events show a Join Policy:

| Join Policy | What a registrant gets |
| --- | --- |
| All Access: must join from the beginning | Every date, starting with the first. They can't register once the series has started. |
| All Access: can join midway | Every remaining date, from when they register. |
| Flexible Access: can join midway and choose events | Only the dates they pick. Optionally cap it with Max Selectable Occurrences, such as *"any 3 classes"*. |

**Step 7: Choose how the price applies**

For a paid ticket, pick a Pricing Model:
- Flat Rate: one price, whatever dates they get. Good for a full program.
- Per Occurrence: the price is charged for each date they pick. Good for drop-in classes with Flexible Access.

**Warning:**
Give your series an end. A series set to Never end with an All Access ticket can only use Flat
Rate pricing: *"Only flat pricing is allowed for forever events with all/future access for now."*
An end date or a number of occurrences keeps every option open, and is clearer for members.

**Warning:**
Get the pattern right before people register. Once the event is published and has confirmed
registrations, the pattern locks: *"Recurrence is locked because this event is published and has
confirmed attendee registration(s)."* If the schedule really must change, create a new event.

## Tips

- Common setups:

  | You're running… | Join Policy | Pricing Model |
  | ----------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- | -------------- |
  | A 6-week program people commit to | All Access: must join from the beginning | Flat Rate |
  | An ongoing circle people can join anytime | All Access: can join midway | Flat Rate |
  | Drop-in classes, paid per class | Flexible Access | Per Occurrence |
  | A class card, _"any 4 classes"_ | Flexible Access with Max Selectable Occurrences 4 | Flat Rate |

- Offer both. You can have two tickets on the same series: a full-series ticket and a drop-in ticket.
- Changing the price model: switching a ticket's Pricing Model is what changes per-date charging. Changing the amount alone doesn't.
- Capacity: with All Access tickets, Soul manages the seat count across the series and you can't edit the event capacity from Registrations. Ticket capacity still works.
- Reminders go out before every upcoming date automatically.
- Repeating events can't be included in a pass.

## What your members see

The event page shows how the event repeats and its next date. With Flexible Access, they pick their dates at checkout under Dates (_"Dates · choose up to N"_ when you set a maximum), and the button reads Choose Your Dates until they've picked at least one. With Per Occurrence, the price is per date and the total updates with the number of dates. After registering, their ticket page lists each of their dates under Your dates, and a Flexible Access ticket holder can add dates later with Book More Dates on the event page. If an All Access: must join from the beginning series has started, the ticket shows Sales ended.
