# Give your event a chat space

> Open a group chat for the people registered for an event, so they can connect before, during and after.

You'll end up with a chat room attached to your event. Everyone with a confirmed registration can talk with you and with each other.

## When to use this

- A retreat or program where people benefit from meeting before they arrive.
- A course-like series where people share progress between sessions.
- Q&A and integration after a workshop.

## Steps

**Step 1: Open the Chat Space tab**

Go to [Offerings → Events](https://portal.bringsoul.life/events), open the event and click Chat
Space.

**Step 2: Enable it**

Click Enable Chat Space. It creates *"a dedicated chat space for this event where attendees can
connect, discuss, and engage with each other before, during, and after it."*

**Step 3: Post a welcome**

The chat opens in the tab. Post the first message: a welcome, a question to get people talking,
or the practical details.

## Tips

- Start the conversation yourself. An empty room stays quiet. A prompt like _"Share one intention you're bringing"_ gets people going.
- Let people know it's there. Mention it in a [blast](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/offerings/events/message-your-registrants) after they register.
- Pre-event prep, post-event recap. Use the chat for questions before and for sharing reflections after.
- Need a space that isn't tied to one event? Create a standalone [chat space](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/offerings/chat-spaces/introduction) instead, for example for an ongoing group.

## What your members see

Once their registration is Confirmed, the chat appears under Event chat on their ticket page (View Ticket on the event page), and they can post right away. People who haven't registered, or who cancelled, don't see it.
