# Release lessons over time

> Roll a course out week by week by publishing lessons as you go, and let members know when new ones arrive.

Members only see published lessons, so you can open a course with the first module and add the rest on your own schedule.

**Warning:** 
Automatic drip isn't available. Lessons can't be set to unlock on a date, or a number of days
after someone enrolls. Everything below is done by hand. Every enrolled member sees a lesson as
soon as you publish it, whenever they joined.

## When to use this

- You're launching a course before it's finished and recording as you go.
- You want a group to move through the material together, one module a week.
- You want to keep people from bingeing everything on day one.

## Steps

**Step 1: Build the whole outline**

In the Content builder, create all your modules and lessons up front, even if some are only
titles for now. Members won't see draft lessons.

**Step 2: Publish the first module's lessons**

Open each lesson in module 1 and click Publish Lesson. Leave the rest as Draft.

**Step 3: Say when the rest arrives**

In the course description, or in a welcome lesson, tell people the plan: *"A new module opens
every Monday."*

**Step 4: Publish the course**

Click Publish course. People can enroll and start module 1.

**Step 5: Each week, publish the next lessons**

Open the next module's lessons and click Publish Lesson on each. Enrolled members see them
straight away.

**Step 6: Let members know**

Post an [announcement](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/announcements) and pick your course's enrollees as
the recipients, so only they're notified.

## Make it feel automatic

- Pair it with a Private Path. A [Private Path](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/offerings/paths/pair-a-path-with-a-course-or-event) sends scheduled text or email prompts, such as _"This week: Module 2, Opening the Heart"_. It's the closest thing to a drip sequence on Soul. People join the path separately.
- Set a reminder for yourself for each release day, so lessons go out on time.

## Good to know

- A lesson needs content before you can publish it. Titles-only lessons stay as drafts until you add a video, a block or quiz questions.
- Unpublishing hides a lesson again. Use it if you published one too early.

## What your members see

Only the lessons you've published, in order. New lessons appear in the course sidebar the moment you publish them.
