# Help members find your chat space

> Put your chat space where members will see it: your portal's Chat Space section, Highlights and shared links.

A chat space nobody can find stays quiet, however good it is. Creating a chat space doesn't put it on your portal, so do these steps once for every new space.

## When to use this

- You've created a chat space and want people to join.
- Members say they can't find the chat.
- Your chat is quiet and you want more people in it.

## Steps

**Step 1: Turn on the Chat Space section**

Go to [My Portal → Design](https://portal.bringsoul.life/portal) and switch on the Chat Space
section. Your Public spaces (and Private spaces, for subscribers) appear in a Chat Spaces row on
your portal.

**Step 2: Move it up**

Drag the section near the top of your portal. The sections at the very top (Featured Video,
Membership, Highlights, Links) stay fixed, so place it right below them.

**Step 3: Choose who sees the section**

Open the section's settings and choose Both Public & Subscribers, Subscribers Only or Public
Only. For a Private space, Subscribers Only keeps visitors from seeing a row they can't use.

**Step 4: Add it to Highlights**

In the Highlights section, click Add Highlight, pick Chat Spaces and select your space.
Highlights sit near the top of your portal, so this is the strongest spot you have.

**Step 5: Share the link**

In the room, click Share and choose Copy Link, or share straight to X, WhatsApp, Telegram or
Email. Put the link in your welcome email, announcements, course lessons and social bios.

**Step 6: Check it as a member would**

In [My Portal → Design](https://portal.bringsoul.life/portal), use Preview As to switch between
Visitor and Subscriber and confirm the row shows up for the right people.

## Tips

- Post before you promote. Soul only suggests your chat space to people browsing other portals once you've written in it. A room with a pinned welcome also converts better.
- Mention it everywhere members already are: your [welcome email](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/settings/email-settings), an [announcement](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/announcements), your [membership](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/business/membership-pricing) description.
- Give it a cover image. Cards with a cover stand out in the row and in Highlights.
- Your chat spaces list is always at `https://bringsoul.life/portal/<your-handle>/chat-spaces`.

**Warning:** 
Unlisted spaces, event chats and Community chats never appear in the Chat Spaces row. Share an
unlisted space by link. Event chats appear on attendees' ticket pages, and Community chats inside
your Community.

## What your members see

A Chat Spaces row on your portal with a card for each space they're allowed to see, showing the cover, title, description and price. Your highlight shows near the top of the portal, and clicking it opens the space.
