# Edit, share and remove recommendations

> Find a recommendation, change it, switch its visibility, copy its link or delete it.

Everything you can do with a recommendation after you've added it.

## When to use this

- A link has moved or broken.
- You want to rewrite your note, change the image or fix the type.
- You want to send someone straight to one recommendation.
- Something is no longer worth recommending.

## Find it

In [Audience → Recommendations](https://portal.bringsoul.life/recommendations):

- Search with _"Search recommendations…"_. It matches the title, description and link.
- Filter by type with the buttons above the list (All, then each type you've used).
- The list shows nine at a time, newest first.

Click a card to preview it: the image, type, visibility, your full description, and Visit Link. Each card also shows the website it links to, which you can click to check the link.

## Edit it

**Step 1: Open the editor**

On the card, open the menu and click Edit. The Edit Recommendation window opens with every field
filled in.

**Step 2: Change what you need**

Title, Description, Type, URL, Thumbnail Image and the Public / Private switch can all be
changed. Switching between Image URL and Upload Image clears the image, so pick the tab you need
before adding one.

**Step 3: Save**

Click Update (or Save Changes on the recommendation's own page). You'll see *"Recommendation
updated successfully"*.

Changes show on your portal straight away.

## The recommendation's own page

Each recommendation has a page in the dashboard. Open it from dashboard search (<kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd>), typing its title. It shows:

- The image, the type and Public or Private.
- Created, for example _"3 days ago"_.
- Description and Link, with a copy button for the link.
- Edit Recommendation and Visit Link buttons.

The menu at the top right has Edit, Copy Link, Open Link, Make Private or Make Public, and Delete.

## Share it

| To share                                           | Do this                                                                                                                       |
| -------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| The recommendation on your portal                  | Click Share on its card, or Copy Link on its page. You'll see _"Recommendation link copied"_ or _"Link copied to clipboard"_. |
| See it as a member would                           | Open Link on its page opens it on your portal in a new tab.                                                                   |
| The resource itself (the book's page, the podcast) | Copy the link from the Link box on its page, or click the website name on its card.                                           |

Sharing the portal link brings people to your portal first, with your note, rather than straight to someone else's site.

## Change visibility

On the card or the page, choose Make Private or Make Public. See [Members-only recommendations](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/recommendations/members-only-recommendations) for what each means.

## Delete it

**Step 1: Choose Delete**

On the card's menu, or the menu on its page, click Delete.
**Step 2: Confirm**

The Delete Recommendation window asks you to confirm: *"This action cannot be undone."* Click
Delete.

**Warning:** 
Deleting removes the recommendation from your portal and your list for good, and any links you
shared to it stop working. To keep it but hide the link from non-subscribers, make it Private
instead.

## Tips

- Check your links a couple of times a year. Click the website name on each card to make sure it still opens.
- Rewrite old notes. Your reasons change, and a fresh note reads better than a dated one.
- [Soul AI](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/soul-ai) can make these changes too, for example _"Change the link on my Daring Greatly recommendation"_ or _"Delete the podcast recommendation about sleep."_ You confirm before anything changes.
