People is where your audience lives; [announcements](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/announcements) are how you write to it. Every announcement's Send to list is built from the people in [Audience → People](https://portal.bringsoul.life/audience/people), so the way you tag and organize people decides who you can reach. ## When to use this - You imported a list and want to tell everyone you've moved to Soul. - You want to follow up with everyone who signed up through one form. - You want to write only to people you tagged after a retreat. - You want to invite your leads to buy, without emailing your paying members. ## Which audience matches which people | Send to option | Who receives it | The matching view in People | | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | | _"Everyone (subscribers, customers, leads)"_ | Everyone in People. | All people | | All Leads | Everyone whose Relationship is Lead, including people on a free membership. | Leads tab (which also leaves out anyone with a membership) | | All Customers | Customers who have a Soul account. | Customers & subscribers, minus people who only have a free membership | | All Subscribers | People with an active membership. | Customers & subscribers → Active subscribers | | All Community Members | Current members of your community. | Filter → Community membership → Community members | | _"Leads from [form] form"_ | People who signed up through that form. | Filter → Activity → Form submission (all forms) | | _"Guest from [event] event"_ | People registered for that event. | Filter → Activity → Event registration (all events) | | _"People tagged [tag]"_ | Everyone with that exact tag, with or without a Soul account. One option appears for each tag in your list. | Filter → Tag | | _"Subscribers from [city]"_, _"[state] state"_, _"[country] country"_ | Subscribers whose Soul account lists that place. | No direct match; the address you type on a profile isn't used. | You can pick several. Someone in more than one audience, or two records sharing an email or phone number, gets it once. ## Send to a group from your list **Step 1: Make the group findable** If the group isn't one of the audiences above, tag them: as you import them, or one by one with ⋯ → Edit Source & Tags on each profile. See [Organize with tags](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/people/organize-with-tags). **Step 2: Check who is in it** In People, set the matching filter (for a tag: Filter → Tag) and look at the total under the list. **Step 3: Write the announcement** Go to [Audience → Announcements](https://portal.bringsoul.life/announcement), click Create New and write your post. **Step 4: Pick the audience** Turn on Notify members and choose the audiences under Send to. If any of them are leads, keep the announcement Public so they can open it. **Step 5: Preview and publish** Click Preview to send yourself a test. Then click Publish and confirm with Publish & Notify. Customers you added by hand with Add customers haven't signed up yet, so they're left out. Give them a tag and add _"People tagged [tag]"_ to your audiences. - Tags are exact, so `Retreat` and `retreat` show up as two audiences. Keep tags lower case. - A new tag appears under Send to once at least one person has it. - You can't send to a filtered view of People directly (for example everyone with Source Session). Tag those people, or use the closest audience above. - Location audiences come from members' Soul accounts, not from the Location on a profile. - Imported and added leads only hear from you when you send something.
