# Publish and share a landing page

> Set the page name, address and social preview, publish and update it, share the link, feature it on your portal or your own domain, and take it down.

A landing page is a draft until you publish it. Publishing puts it live at its own address; later edits wait as unpublished changes until you publish them too.

## When to use this

- Your page is ready to go live.
- You've edited a live page and want visitors to see the changes.
- You want the link to look good when shared on social media or in messages.
- The campaign is over and you want to take the page down.

## Set the address and social preview

Click the gear next to the page in the left panel to open Page settings.

| Setting        | What it does                                                                                                                                 |
| -------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Page name      | The page's name in your dashboard.                                                                                                           |
| Slug           | The end of the page's address. Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. The full link shows underneath, with a copy button.                   |
| Social preview | _"How this page looks when shared on social or messaging."_ A Preview image (Upload Image, recommended 1200×630), a Title and a Description. |
| Publish state  | Published (_"Live and visible to visitors"_) or Not published (_"Only you can see this page"_), with Publish or Unpublish.                   |
| Delete page    | Deletes the page after _"Delete this page permanently?"_                                                                                     |

Click Save to keep name, slug and social preview changes (_"Page settings saved"_). If you see _"Could not save. The slug may already be taken."_, choose a different slug: each one can be used once in your portal.

**Tip:** 
Set the slug before you share the link. Changing it later changes the page's address, so links
you've already posted would point to the old one.

## Publish

**Step 1: Check it**

Close the Edit panel and look through the whole page on Desktop and Mobile. Click every button.

**Step 2: Publish**

Click Publish above the preview. Any edit you were in the middle of is saved first. The page's
label changes to Live.

**Step 3: Open it**

On the ⋮ menu, click View live page to open it as visitors will, or Copy link to copy its
address.

Your page's address:

With your [own domain](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/portal/custom-domain) live, it's `yourname.com/pages/<your-handle>/<page-slug>`.

## Update a live page

Edit as usual. Your changes are saved to a draft, and an Unpublished changes label appears next to the page name. Visitors keep seeing the published version until you click Publish changes.

Changed your mind? On the ⋮ menu, click Revert to published to throw away the unpublished edits and go back to what's live.

## Share it

- Copy link from the ⋮ menu, or from Page settings, and post it in your bio, stories, emails or an [announcement](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/announcements).
- Pin it to your portal as a [highlight](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/portal/feature-and-reorder-offerings). It shows as _Featured page_. Only published pages can be pinned.
- Make it the first thing people see at your own domain: in [Settings → Custom Domain](https://portal.bringsoul.life/settings/custom-domain), under Domain home page, pick the page and click Save Home Page. - Use it as the link in an [AutoDM](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/autodm) reply.

## Take it down

| You want to…                     | Do this                                      | What visitors see  |
| -------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------- | ------------------ |
| Hide it for now, keep everything | ⋮ → Unpublish, or Unpublish in Page settings | _"Page not found"_ |
| Remove it for good               | Page settings → Delete page, and confirm     | _"Page not found"_ |

A page that's your custom domain's home page stops being it when you unpublish or delete it, and your domain opens on your portal home again. If the page is pinned as a highlight, remove the highlight too.

**Warning:** Deleting a page can't be undone. Unpublish instead if you might use it again.
