# Capture leads with AutoDM

> Turn Instagram comments into email sign-ups by sending a form or freebie page in the DM, then follow up with announcements.

An Instagram follower is someone you can only reach on Instagram. A lead is someone on your own list. AutoDM bridges the two: the DM hands them a page where they leave their email in exchange for your freebie.

## When to use this

- You're growing your email list from Instagram.
- You give away a guide, meditation or class replay for free.
- You want to follow up with people later by email, not only by DM.

## How it fits together

1. Someone comments your keyword.
2. AutoDM sends them a DM with a button to your form or freebie page.
3. They fill in the form with their name and email.
4. They appear in [People](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/people) as a lead.
5. You follow up with an [announcement](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/send-an-announcement-to-a-segment) to _"Leads from [form] form"_.

AutoDM itself doesn't ask for emails inside Instagram. The sign-up happens on your page.

**Step 1: Build the page**

Create a form, or a landing page with a form, that delivers your freebie. See [Build a lead
funnel with a freebie](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/build-a-lead-funnel) and
[Forms](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/forms). Publish it.

**Step 2: Create the campaign**

On [Audience → AutoDM](https://portal.bringsoul.life/auto-dm), click New Campaign, add your
keyword and set the trigger. See [Send a freebie to everyone who comments a
keyword](https://help.bringsoul.life/luminaries/audience/autodm-keyword-campaign).

**Step 3: Attach the page**

In Send DM, click Attach Offering, search for your form or landing page and click Attach Button.
The button reads *"Fill it in"* for a form or *"Take a look"* for a landing page. Rename it to
something like *"Get the guide"*.

**Step 4: Write a DM that sells the click**

Say what they'll get and that it's free, for example *"Here's your free morning meditation 🌿
Tap below and I'll email it to you."*

**Step 5: Follow up**

A few days later, send an announcement to *"Leads from [form] form"*.

## Tips

- Put the link in the DM, not the public reply. The DM goes to one person; a public reply is read by everyone.
- Ask for as little as you can. Name and email convert better than a long form.

- Want to invite people straight to a paid offer? Attach the session, event or membership instead.

## What people see

Your DM with a button. Tapping it opens your form or page on your portal. After they submit, they get whatever your form or funnel promises, and you see them as a lead.
